"One-night stay, I didn't use the bar or restaurant. Breakfast was good, choices of continental, choices in cooked dishes. Staff were approachable and helpful, check-in good. Free parking. The room could use renovation, bathroom especially - sink taps not matching, top of cold tap broken; towel radiator hot (could not switch off - in a heat wave). Everything was clean."

"Our room on the second floor was extremely hot - it was a particularly hot week but we were never able to cool it down despite having the fan on. Having to climb about 40 stairs with suitcases for several days' stay was a challenge. Although the house keeping staff did their best to maintain the room and bathroom they were outdated and the bathroom in particular needs updating. "Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Breakfast is cooked to order and of an excellent quality. The staff are all helpful and efficient. The hotel is ideally situated for access to the town centre, Dad's Army Museum, bus station and is about 15 minutes' walk from the train station. The bar is welcoming and serves a good selection of drinks. There is a small outdoor courtyard area in which to sit if the weather permits. "We did stay during heatwave but bedroom was too hot to sleep in although fans were provided. Ice was not available after bar closed to cool down drinks/water. Staff very friendly and in excellent location"
