If you want to save money on your big adventure, bundle your hotel and flights. You can also add car rental and experiences to your Ethiopia Holiday Package. Want to learn how to cook Ethiopia’s national food, injera — a spongy flatbread used to scoop up meats and stews? Join a food tour in Addis Ababa with the money you save.
Your Ethiopia Holiday Itinerary
Day 1-2: Touchdown in the national capital at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Deepen your understanding of this fascinating country at the Ethnological Museum and the National Museum. Visit traditional eateries to sample some delicious Ethiopean cuisine like doro wat, a spicy chicken stew.
Day 3-4: Hop on a flight to Gondar, a magical city often referred to as the “Camelot of Africa”. Once you lay eyes on the Royal Enclosure, the remains of a fortress city full of castles and palaces, you’ll know why. Be sure to also check out the intricately painted interior of Debre Berhan Selassie church.
Day 5: From Gondar, it’s a short flight to Lalibela. This place is famous for its rock-hewn churches that date back to the 12-13th century. Marvel at the craftsmanship of Biete Medhane Alem and Biete Ghiorgis — and don’t forget your camera!
Ethiopia Information
Head to Gondar and celebrate Timkat, a three-day festival that starts January 19. Colourful processions, singing, dancing and interesting religious rituals make this a popular event with tourists.
