The property itself was fantastic a lot of old school charm. We loved the aesthetic. Staff was super friendly! Hotel was great!
Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the community of vagrants in the town square right outside the hotel.
Historic hotel, located on the Arcata plaza and within walking distance of several restaurants. The staff was great, parking very close and the hotel provides a parking pass. We didn’t partake of the breakfast but it’s there.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The room was clean, the shower was divine, the staff were friendly and helpful.
Windows that actually open and a ceiling fan are hard to come by in hotels so I really appreciated the fresh sea air and fan here. Plus a comfy bed and pillows and hot shower made for a great stay.
It is a neat hotel with character. It is clean and well maintained. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but there are definitely some negatives:
The breakfast was pitiful. I was forced to go out for breakfast.
There is no dedicated parking and since the hotel is located in the middle of a tourist town, finding street parking was not easy. I had to park several blocks from the hotel.
There were often homeless people congregating on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. I would have to walk around them and through their marijuana smoke to get in and out of the hotel.
I loved the architecture and historical photographs. The room was clean. The hallway leading to the room had a strong unpleasant odor, but the room smelled better. We were able to let the fresh air in with large windows. The restaurant, Tomo, was great! The shower flooded the bathroom floor because the water pressure was so high it splattered on the floor even with the shower curtain draped inside the tub. Great black out curtains, but you can hear everyone's business as they laughed and spoke loudly walking around town which they did well past 10pm. There is a baseball stadium a block away and we could hear every word the announcer said over the PA. Luckily I brought earplugs. Unhoused people sit outside the hotel which was a little scary, but honestly they were quiet and nothing happened.
Beautiful Victorian hotel from outside but very old inside with older carpet, dark colours throughout and missing charm of the era. Best thing was the clawfoot bathtub!
Our room was on a side street which was very noisey all night.
Too bad that effort had not been made to restore what used to be a very clsssy hotel.

Hardly anyone there still 24 hr desk person. Right on Arcata plaza. Good parking off plaza
Historic charm with modern amenities. Situated right on the town square of Arcata. The hotel issues you a parking pass which works everywhere but immediately around the square. Lots of great dining options all within walking distance. The restaurant off of the lobby was excellent. Room was very clean, bathroom was large with a claw foot tub (and amazing water pressure).
Nice antique style room. Very clean. A bit small for a couple though. Also try for a room on the street side & not facing the back/ alley. Garbage truck comes early & loud on weekends :-)
Staff was fantastic, friendly & helpful, particularly when it came to parking.
As for the continental breakfast, I regret to say it was lacking. Few offerings, most of it unhealthy, like you'd find at a Motel 6 in Elko, Nev. I chalk it up to expense of finer fare & not enough business to cover it. Plenty of dining options nearby though.
