"Cottage was perfectly located and well equipped albeit small for the price. Bathroom great, cosy lounge and well equipped kitchen. Couple of areas needed redecorating. But communication was non existent. Contacted host twice without reply on day of arrival to get the passcode for the keys. Also phone number was for Sykes cottages which was closed. Ended up knocking on doors nearby and finally got to the right person."

"Nice big room and bathroom, the only downside was staying there during a hot spell and the bathroom got the sum very early morning and the bedroom for the rest of the day making it unbearable to sleep in, even though there was a fan provided. The bottom sheet didnt fit the bed properly so with shuffling due to the heat it didnt stay on for long. Great location and a good base for visiting the area and plenty of parking. "Lovely place to stay, the hosts where very accomadating and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast each morning was great i'm a vegetarian and had plenty to choose from. Location was spot on easy access to Scarborough, filey, robin hoods bay and whitby among others. Very clean Thank you for a lovely stay."

"Sadly, this was a bad experience. I booked via Expedia where the hotel was advertising a Michelin trained chef and a restaurant. I travelled solo 145 miles for a two night break purely because of this. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to learn the restaurant closed last year. I expressed this disappointment in very civil tones, explaining this was the only reason for my visit. "We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor but it was very hot as a result of the recent high temperatures. This made sleep difficult until the early hours of the morning when the weather cooled. All the staff we encountered were great - very helpful, pleasant and cheerful. Breakfast was standard but absolutely no complaints. It is a very old property but some way of keeping the upper rooms cooler in high summer temperatures would be a major improvement.. perhaps by increasing the roof insulation"
