Hotel with Character

Perfectly positioned in a quiet street 5 minutes walk from the Duomo. The reception staff speak excellent English, and are very helpful. The restaurants they recommended were very good, and were all within easy walking distance (old Florence is not a place to take your car due to narrow streets and limited parking). Our deluxe room was large and very comfortable, and old frescoes on the walls and the vaulted ceilings in the public areas made this a unique place to stay. The little internal courtyard would be lovely to have breakfast in during the warmer months. If you like an extensive hot breakfast you will be disappointed, as there is only bacon & eggs, but there is a good cold buffet selection, and the fruit juice and coffee is good.

Expensive Tradeoff

We upgraded from a way-too-small standard room to a way-over-priced suite. We got a much larger room, but we also got a mold covered shower and outdated bathroom. While the public rooms were nice and the staff polite, at these prices (even in Florence) you should get a clean bathroom. A good hotel for those who want historic ambiance and are willing to overlook the shabbiness.
