A wonderful place to stay and revisit

We stayed at 8 different places including B&B, hotel and motel during our 9-day long vacation in South New Zealand. Holly homestead prevails as the top one. Bernie was so friendly and welcoming, and made us fresh chocolate cookies and hot tea soon after we arrived. That was a nice gesture considering we just spent hours of driving in hard rain and cold weather. Gerard made great breakfast. Before we left for our next adventure, Bernie reminded us to fill up gas and gave us a list of things to do between Franz Joseph and Wanaka. That was so considerate. Not to mention about leaving behind a battery for our Canon camera, Bernie emailed us proactively and made arrangement to deliver it to our motel. Thanks you, Bernie!

Very nice B & B.

Great B&B in small town of Franz Joseph. Hostess, Bernie was welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. We stayed in the large suite which was comfortable with plenty of space. Breakfast was great with 3 other couples to share travel info with.

One of the best b&b’s I’ve stayed in.

When we first saw the b&b from the outside we thought it looked a bit Victorian. But from the moment Bernie greeted us to showing us our room, we were mesmerized. Everything in our room was pretty modern and the bathroom was in excellent condition and very clean. We are quite sticklers when it comes to clean accommodations, but they definetly have met the standards. We are also quite introverted, but Bernie made us feel welcomed and we eventually met her husband Gerard who was our breakfast chef and the breakfast was delicious. I have stayed in many b&b’s and this is definetly one of our top 3. We booked the bedroom suite with its own living room. The bed was very comfortable. I am a light sleeper, but I slept very well. Also because we didnt know much about the area, Bernie gave us wonderful hiking, driving and lunch suggestions. She also put our luggages on the luggage rack (which are quite heavy and w/o our knowledge which is an added touch). We would of never asked anybody to do that. Thats what many 5-star hotels do..didnt expect it from a b&b. Overall, A+ and if anybody is ever in the area, I would definetly recommend them to everyone.

Pleasant B&B

Very warm welcome from Bernie whose local knowledge is extensive and who was able to advise on those restaurants able to run a courtesy transfer service although during our stay of two days we did not avail ourselves of this, preferring the 20/25 minute walk into town. Reasonable variety of choice for cooked breakfast and cereals etc. Bernie supplied details of places worth visiting en route during our onward journey southwards.

Excellent B&B with very friendly hosts

Very nice and comfortable room with excellent facilities and a lovely setting. Bernie was very helpful and accommodating and there was an excellent wholesome breakfast. We had a superior room (twin) but it was the most expensive (20% higher) of this type of accommodation during our 10 day visit to NZ for the same type of accommodation. Could just be Franz Josef pricing.
