One of the best hotel stays I've ever had and one of the highlights on my Sri Lanka trip. Comfortable accommodation, great restaurant and lovely staff. The people were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The front desk also helped me organise a wonderful day trip and transfers. The Sun House is also on a good location - in the hill area so it's quiet but close enough to the fort. Thoroughly recommend!

This is an elegant, affordable, comfortable and extremely welcoming hotel situated in a green oasis just a few minutes walk from the centre of the city. The, room was spacious, the staff were extremely attentive and helpful and the breakfast excellent. Highly recommended.

One of the nicest properties I have stayed at

This hotel is amazing, i loved all the touches that makes it feel special, amazing common area with seating areas for pre dinner drinks, great rooms, amazing staff and great food, pool. Only a 10 min walk to the fort and is located in a quiet area. The curries were the highlight. I would definitely stay again next time I am in Galle

Sun House is a beautifully restored hotel, and the location is ideal, a short walk from the fort, in a quiet location. The hotel is stunning and nature was literally right outside our window, we had a wonderful time. The breakfast was delicious too, both the Lankan and western options. We particularly appreciated the kind and helpful staff who took such good care of us, special thanks to the manager and Priyantha who made our stay very pleasant and comfortable.

Excellent gem 💎 of a hotel in Galle , personalized service right from the time you enter the hotel , with a great welcome , overview explanation of the room and services , nice breakfast service , staff are amazing , very hospitable , right staff for right job -something you don’t find in Europe nowadays 😅. Will definitely recommend and come back in future . Just a small observation- the metallic door stopper in the bathroom is a safety hazard , I almost cut my feet on it and upon arrival the towels could be hot instead of cold … 😆

Lovely hotel in a historic house with impeccable service. It has been recently refurbished and under new owners who have done a magnificent job. We stayed in the Dumas suite which has a balcony where you can watch birds and monkeys with a cup of morning tea. The serene gardens and swimming pool are a delight. Do not miss the Arrack Tasting menu dinner which was unforgettable. Staying here gives you a short walk to Galle Fort and a chance to stay in a beautiful house with gardens so the best of both worlds. Well done to all the team.

Gorgeously situated in a beautiful ex-colonial mansion, serving excellent food. Staff are efficient and friendly. The regular rooms are evocative and very comfortable, with choice of fan and air conditioning. The lack of a television is more than compensated for by the eclectic collection of books in rooms, and communal areas. I was lucky to stay in the Galleon Suite, which is the size of an apartment, with a shower and outdoor bath! An evening dip in the pool, followed by drinks at the bar was the perfect way to end the evening. The rates are unbelievably low. Highly recommended!

Welcoming and unique boutique hotel

We had a fantastic two nights at The Sun House, located up the hill from the buzz of Galle. You can easily get a tuk tuk to the forts/cricket ground. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The food was fantastic and we booked an experience with the chef to cook some Sri Lankan food. What a feast we made. The pool was a welcome rest at the end of the day. The room was comfortable with a big bathroom, balcony and a helpful mosquito net over the bed. The property is surrounded by trees for you to spot some amazing birds or even some monkeys. The lounge areas are comfy and have lots of fascinating history. A unique place to stay in Galle.

Absolutely breathtaking Villa

My wife and I had the most amazing experience in this hotel. From the staff, the food, the cocktails, the amenities, everything was splendid. They really do go the extra mile to make your trip wonderful. Kudos to Ronald and team for making our stay great. We stayed at the Taprobane Suite which had an outdoor bathtub which we sadly didnt use as much as we wish we did. The Gallean cocktail by their bartender with an infused arrack was my daily poison. The sri lankan breakfast followed by a dip in the pool was a great way to start the day. Overall, its 10/10

Fantastic hotel. Beautiful rooms, lovely property, friendly and effective staff. The location just outside Galle Fort is perfect, a short walk or even shorter tuk tuk ride up the hill and the peace and sanctuary of historic Sun House. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

The real Galle experience.

We stayed in Galle for two nights and had the most relaxing time. The staff we so attentive, the food delicious and fresh, our room was gorgeous and well maintained. We had the best time.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt im The Sun House. Das Personal ist liebenswürdig und herzlich. Das geschichtsträchtige Haus wurde aufwändig renoviert und hat ganz viel Flair. Die Räume sind liebevoll dekoriert und alles ist sehr stimmungsvoll. In dieser ruhigen Anlage kann man wunderbar ausspannen und ist in 10-15 min zu Fuß in der Altstadt. Wir konnten direkt von unserem Balkon aus Affen und einen Falken beobachten.

This is the most beautiful old house originally owned by a Scottish spice merchant. The furniture is attractive, the gardens and setting gorgeous and the food delicious. There are loads of books you can borrow.You wish it was your own house! The staff are so helpful and kind. Our son told us to visit as he had been there last summer. We are so glad we followed his advice. This was quite the best place we stayed in in Sri Lanka and we hope we can go back for longer next time.

We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and it went beyond expectations! The staff were just wonderful - you felt so so cared for and about, to ensure you had the best possible time. I really couldn't recommend Rukman and his team from both The Sun House and The Dutch House highly enough!
