Many thanks for your review, it will be very helpful and insightful for future guests, and we thank you for going to so much trouble. We are so glad you loved your room and the breakfast room and breakfast, but also so sorry that our resident cats were such an issue for you. We have several photos of our cats on our web site for all to see that we have pets. As you know a Guest House, unlike a Hotel, is also a home and we do have three geriatric kitty cats, that mostly lie in the sun all day outside, but as it was a cold and wet night when you arrived, they were obviously inside. Had I known it was such a problem (as they do not go into guests rooms) then I could have moved you to one of our lovely rooms next door - where there are no pets! Or we could have made sure they were banned to our room until your departure - we do fully understand as our own daughter-in-law is sadly also allergic to cats and we do that for her - or she would not be able to visit :-) Thank goodness you eventually found us on such a horrible cold and wet night, so glad the heaters were all on and the electric blanket when you got here! We do send every guest that books with us a map and instructions regarding the use of a GPS - as Ilse sent to you in May this year (but you probably booked so far ahead you forgot to print it and bring it with you - it can easily happen) - as alas there are two streets with the same name in our town - and we cannot change that - one is called Hammerkop Circle (which appears first on a GPS) and we are Hammerkop Street - so it is easily done to hit the first one on the list and it takes you to the wrong side of town. In our welcome letter we recommend the use of the co-ordinates, or looking for us under accommodation. All being said and done - we are glad that apart from these two unfortunate things you did like being with us and you would recommend us to others - for which we thank you most sincerely. If you do come this way again - please give us a heads-up and we could accommodate you at No 5 - where the cats never go on our other property. I hope the rest of your vacation was hassle free and you had a wonderful time in our beautiful South Africa.

I appreciate you comments, which we take very seriously, as we always try to improve in any way we can. I wish to address the points though, as our bed in the Annex is the best money can buy in South Africa and is a top of the rang Rest Assured Bed, almost brand new with firm sprung mattress and memory foam topping - it is a Queen sized extra high and extra long (the longest available in South Africa) and as both my husband and I are very tall (and big :-)) we have the same mattress and it is perfect. Only a King size would be slightly wider and the room would not allow that as it would be too cluttered. With regards the dogs - alas, there are other dogs in the area and the day you were here was garbage collection day and the whole neighborhood's dogs do not like the garbage truck! - but it is not all day and once they collect in our neighborhood it stops and there is complete tranquility at night time - but I do apologise for that although it is out of our control! Breakfast surely cannot be limited - we serve full English on order and will make anything requested - from pancakes to eggs Benedict to omelette etc. There is always plenty of fresh fruit and cheese and ham platters as well each guest gets a starter - we also supply yogurt and cereals etc - we cater to special diets and religions although we do not have Asian cuisine - in fact this is the first time in a total of over two thousand reviews that we have received a negative for our breakfast, and in contrast we mostly get comments that it is the best breakfast supplied in South Africa and we pride ourselves of trying to accommodate all tastes, and requests. Perhaps you have mistaken us for somewhere else that you stayed in this regard along the way? We hope the rest of your stay in our lovely country was of equal or better standard, but consider what we offer to be a very good value package. Regards Dawn

Thank you for your comments, glad everything about your room was fine. Sorry about the cats - the one is new and he has yet to learn the rules, but he soon will! We like that you mentioned our pets (we have only three now, and one is on borrowed time) - because at least other guests who do not like pets can make an informed decision and not book with us. On the other hand we get loads of bookings because people love the homely atmosphere and the big fat cat lying on the patio or in the pot plant!
