Sunset from Grand Isle State Park, near the southern tip of Louisiana. We didn't know you could drive 1.5 hours south of New Orleans, but you can to reach this beautiful state park. Grand Isle is mostly a summer community but it was sunny and warm and nearly empty for us in early March. The RV park was a great place to stay -- one of our favorites, right next to the beach and with nature paths nearby. We walked on the beach by day, and grilled burgers and sat by the campfire at night. The rooms were cute, the beds were fine and it was a nice quiet place to stay. Always at the top of my list. We didn't stay long enough to use the outdoor cooking facility, but it would have been fun to purchase some fish at a local shop and make fish tacos. Our room was missing hand/body soap and ...
