"Delightful and funky. Spa robes were ready at the foot of the bed, the fire warmed the room, there was no sink in the bathroom, and the kitchen outlet was directly over the quality Italian range. Desolation Hotel is isolated at the end of Hope Valley, which was an essential part of the Emmigrant Trail. The "hotel" is a collection of comfortable cabins hidden in the trees above the restaurant/lobby & outdoor bar & dining area. It is an ideal location for those who like hiking or trout fishing."

"The room was right along the road and you could hear traffic all night long. Even using a speaker with background noise, it was very loud in the room. We did not get any sleep that night. The room was cutely decorated, but you could tell it was done a few years back. There was dust on the ceiling fan fixture, the blades and any surface. The room really needs a deep cleaning. "Pass key to the room we were originally assigned to did not work which required back and forth to the front desk and wasted time. There was no coffee in the room. Multiple things were broken. I escalated the issues with no response or help from anyone."

"It was a nice quiet stay. I had a hard time getting into the room and the housekeepers had to help me get in but besides that it was cute and charming and quiet. I slept great."

"Silver Lake is a beautiful location and having cabins to rent on the lake side is pretty special. The cabins are old and rather quirky, but you can over look some inconveniences, like luke warm water, missing chairs for dining, no plugs in the sinks and even a mouse in your room. But when we checked in they charge me for the room even though I had paid for it . I had to find my credit card bill to show I had paid for the room.
