Worn down hotel, got room on top floor towards back of building. Beds were clean but somewhat squeaky, windows to both back of building and to where stairwell/elevator is. No soundproofing, aircondition mounted above elevator door very noisy, had some problems sleeping because of it. Bathroom was a bit weird, no way to shower without soaking everything in the room.
The hotel is very shop worn, needs a lot of TLC. The room I was in was right next to an altar which was visited by noisy people throughout the day and night. There was a very old TV that seemed not to work. Very difficult to set up the water kettle to the only outlet that worked in the room, it was a meter above the floor. The same problem when charging phones. To their credit, the bed was comfortable. Many other hotels in the area are much better at the same price.

Cheap Hotel
I thought I I had purchased a night in a room with a single bed, a balcony, bathtub, and room safe. I quickly realized this was not the case after being led to my room. The only room in the room viewed the stairway. The room had a dark eerie feel to it. The bathroom was small and difficult to use. I mentioned to the front desk about the room not having any of the amenities that were listed on Hotels.com and they came up to look at the room in an almost sarcastic way and told me they could push the two small beds together and that I could lock my camera equipment in the safe by the front desk. I did end up using the safe located at the front desk and did not have any problems but it was still an uneasy feeling.
For 20-30 USD a night, this hotel provides good quality. Located in the middle of Hanoi's old quarter. Ask for the nearby place of chicken noodles at night, awesome! Pick up and ride to the airport for 17 USD each. The tour these guys offer to Halong Bay is really good and cheap compared to other agencies. Hotel is not new, but it is clean.
