"The rooms at Porters are beautifully kept, spacious and with ample amenities. The location is excellent and our suite was superb for our family. Staff at Porters are always a highlight - going out of their way to help and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The surroundjng area is loaded with dining options and is a short drive to surrounding cellar doors and scenic spots that Hawke's Bay has to offer. We will be back for our third stay in April 2026!"

"Couldn’t get bedside lights to go. Very little available for cost. No stool in bathroom. No place on booking sheet to inform re disabilities. Breakfast was a further cost on top of tariff. Very close to facilities and shopping a real bonus."

"No cooking facilties other than a microwave. Broken cupboard under sink. Erratic and sometimes nil hot water."

"Aircon needed cleaning out, as it had a bad odor when turned on I found a live White tail spider inside room The bed had worn out Mattress springs, which made sleeping in it uncomfortable. Toaster alliance had a broken pop-up mechanism Room could do with an update and refresh decor. Very helpful and friendly staff though! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "

"Air con was a little tricky and a little noisy but not too off putting- it wouldn’t put us off from staying there again - parking was no problem despite the motel being quite full"

"The balcony doors are accordion and a pain to open and close…other than that a nice hotel."

"Clean room, bed and pillows sooo comfortable, great shower, good location. Excellent stay, would have been good to have a microwave in the room. Very friendly staff."

"The standard of the rooms was very poor .No bench or running water ,had to make coffee on the fridge top .Hole in bathroom wall had a rough plaster patch .My sisters unit bathroom had a checker plate sheet on the floor which was covering a large hole in the floor .The whole place seemed to be set up for seasonal fruit pickers and it appears some are moved out when a unit is needed .Clearly there needs to be a better inspection system. "

"A modern city hotel. The city centre and the Esplanade are a 10-minute walk away. Underground car park available for a fee. Pak'n Save opposite. Breakfast is fine but nothing special. Friendly, helpful staff."
