Initially, when I made the reservation, I thought it was a hotel, but when I arrived I discovered it was a hostel. Additionally, I was disappointed that they didn't send a taxi to the airport for me even though I requested it via their website one day in advance. Hence, the reason for the 4-star rating. Apart from those misunderstandings, my stay was pleasant. The staff's hospitality was great, especially Maria Louisa, she did all of my requests with a smile on her face. This made my breakfast taste better. Dayron who spoke English, gave perfect directions to tourist attractions, I didn't even need a GPS. Plus, many of the tourist attractions were within walking distance from the hostel for those who like to walk. I will recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to stay in central Havana on a budget.

The staff here was great! The breakfast was a nice start to the day, but not super impressive. The location is great for an easy walk in and around Havana.

San Lazaro is een heel gezellige hostel, met super vriendelijk personeel. Genoten van het ontbijt. Hostel ligt op loopafstand van de Malecon en de Paseo, ideaal als je de stad te voet wil verkennen.

Our stay was extremely comfortable. The 24/7 on site managers were super helpful with everything from afternoon coffees to advice on various transportation options to near and far destinations. The room was very clean, the air conditioning lovely, and the beds were comfortable. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Havana.

Outstanding staff
The place is stone throw away from Malecon, and within easy walking distance to Old Havana. Location is good. The highlight here is the super helpful and friendly staff who proactively offers assistance during our stay and provides tips on how to explore the city. The room is perfectly described and presented as in the photos.

Wir hatten ein sehr großes und geräumiges Zimmer ganz oben auf dem Dach. Alles war sehr sauber, das Personal ausgesprochen freundlich. Auf der schönen Dachterrasse kann man wunderbar frühstücken und auch sonst Zeit verbringen. Die Lage ist hervorragend zur Erkundung von Havanna, fußläufig 10 Minuten ins Zentrum, der Malecon gleich um die Ecke. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und würden jederzeit wieder dieses Casa buchen.

A acomodação é espaçosa, limpinha e muito confortável! Sem dúvidas a cama mais confortável das minhas estadias em Cuba! Além disso, a localização é boa, permite fazer muita coisa a pé, e tem bons paladares ao redor. Fomos muito bem atendidos pela equipe, que nos orientou e auxiliou com passeio a Varadero e com a contratação de um taxi grande que coubesse todas as malas para o aeroporto por um bom preço! O café da manhã é gostoso, com frutas, ovo, torradas e geléia. O wifi funciona o tempo inteiro e acredito que tenha sido a melhor conexão com a internet que experienciamos em Cuba. Super recomendaria e voltaria nessa hospedagem!

un sabor agridulce.....
mi experencia no ha sido muy positiva...la habitacion y el baño,estaban bien,pero el personal,no fue muy agradable , el,desayuno con muchas moscas y les pedimos si podiamos quedarnos unas horas mas,ya k nuestro vuelo salia tarde y nos digeron k no tenian a nadie mas k no habria problema y cuando volvimos nos querian cobrar 25 euros mas...

Estimada Lucia.Gracias por tomar su tiempo en opinar.Vamos analizar que paso con el personal que no fue agradable, no es lo que nos caracteriza. Sobre el late check out, hasta las 16 horas podemos hacerlo gratis si no hay entrada, pero despues de ese horario no puede ser gratis pues tendriamos que bloquear la habitacion porque ya no se limpiaria, es por esto que se cobra la mitad. Siento mucho lo ocurrido.Gracias

I plan to return!
The staff were friendly and helpful. Although not all staff spoke English there was always someone on staff that had good English language skills. They were able to arrange taxis, suggest local areas of interest, and exchange currency on a limited scale. The facility was clean and safe, the room clean and modern in appointments. The location is very close to the old downtown and the seawall, and is convenient for walking. The location is, like many such in Havana and elsewhere in Cuba, located in a run down area, with decaying buildings and such, but that is Cuba and I felt safe walking around there. Expect money changers, guitar salesmen and some prostitutes in the area but they were not a serious bother. They supply a nice breakfast and have beers and sodas in the room refrigerators and can do laundry for you. All of this costs extra so if on a tight budget be sure to ask the price beforehand. I plan to return!
