"I travel frequently for work and stay in hotels often, and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had.
I prepaid for my room in advance and arrived around 6:20 PM needing to check in quickly before a 7:00 PM client dinner. Instead, I walked into an empty front desk with a sign saying staff was “on break” for 30 minutes. While waiting a few minutes is understandable, having no one available during standard check-in hours is not.
When an employee finally appeared, I asked if he could check me in. He told me he couldn’t help because he wasn’t clocked in yet and wouldn’t be until 6:47 PM. So I waited — over 20 minutes — just to be assisted.
Then another guest walked in without a reservation, and the employee chose to help him first, completely ignoring the fact that I had already been waiting over 25 minutes. When I questioned it, I was told the other guest had been there before me, even though I had not seen him.
The situation escalated when I expressed frustration, and swore under my breath, the employee ultimately refused to check me in altogether — despite the fact that I had already prepaid. When I pointed that out, I was told: “We have enough bookings. We don’t need your money.”
I was then given a fake phone number when I asked for a manager, followed by another number that led nowhere. I also requested written confirmation of a refund, which I never received.
This wasn’t just inconvenient, it was a complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service."
