"THE FINE PRINT: Don't bother with a "city view" room unless you're on a top floor, because all you will see is the ugly rooftops and other buildings. So don't pay extra for that unless it's guaranteed a top floor. Ride Share: Waymo is not allowed into the property, so you have to get picked up at a dangerous gas station next door. Lots of homeless, drug users and mentally ill people talking to themselves at the gas station next door. Doesnt feel safe going to buy drinks or snacks. You get harassed for change. Doesnt feel safe getting picked up or dropped off there. Resort Fee: this is one of those hotels that charges a resort fee, so be careful of that they do give you a $31 credit back. But the credit is not per day. It's for your whole day so you get charged for the resort fee daily. Tips: They already and automatically include a 20% service charge, so anything you tip on that is EXTRA. They don't really disclose that. They just put a stamp on the receipt. You have to ask for an itemized receipt to see that the charge was added. The front desk staff was weird. They saw us waiting in line and walked away mysteriously without saying I'll be back or acknowledging that we were there or saying someone will be right with you. Otherwise, I really liked the location. It was really handy to the LA Metro, which made getting around very easy."

"The lobby was closed for a private party so we didn’t get to experience that. And the theater was closed due to maintenance issues, which was a bit of a bummer"

"Staff was helpful and great to deal with! Cafe was really good and the staff there were also helpful and friendly! Only thing, shower is a little tight, and the shower head was pretty high. I’m 5’11” and had to reach for it to adjust spray pattern "

"The location is amazing and the rooms were great but being so close to Hollywood Blvd I just wished there was more security in the front office. Also the underground garage is so tricky. It wasn’t the worst thing ever but definitely can be frustrating. "

"Hotel was very nice. However the soap dispenser in the bath was broken. I went to the front desk to request soap to take a shower the attendant said he didn’t have any and the staff was gone. I asked if he had any in storage and he said no. He showed no empathy nor did he offer a discount because of the inconvenience. Bottom line bring your own soap and shampoo."

"This would have been a perfect place to stay if it hadn’t been Oscar weekend. This hostel happens to be across from the Dolby theater. I understand the need for security, but when a hostel guest is unable to access their room late at night well after the Oscar’s are over, that is unacceptable. We were told if we were going out on Oscar day, we couldn’t return until after 10. That’s already ridiculous, but I’ll deal with it. I came back at 10:30 and could not get in. The door to the front of the hostel was 10ft past a security guard who wouldn’t budge. Hostel wouldn’t answer their phone. Absolute insanity that I (and several others) couldn’t access the rooms we paid for!!! No one knew what they were doing. We had to essentially beg various security guards until they started this absurd relay, handing us off between different guards. We walked half a mile to access a door that was 10ft in front of us. Unbelievable. If you go any other weekend, this is a fine place to stay, which is why it’s not getting one star, but they have made it very obvious that you as a hostel guest are not a priority. Get your act together for Oscar weekend next year, Samesun. You don’t treat paying guests like this. Make a plan prior to the event, or shut the hostel down if you’re unable to accommodate the free flow of guests. "
