The room was a good size, and was fine. However, the hallway smelt very strongly of smoke the entirety of our 3 night stay. We reported this to the front desk, but there was no improvement in the smell. I believe someone was smoking in their room, but nothing was done about it. The staff were helpful enough, and the people cleaning the room was nice. However, one time we were having our kids take a nap and put the 'Do not disturb' sign on the door, but they knocked loudly and kept saying 'Housekeeping' loudly. So, they didn't respect the sign. The room was clean enough, but the building itself was not. For all these reasons, I gave my ranking as 'Okay' overall.

The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. Staff asked how often we wanted the room serviced - this was great to offer (we selected no service), reflects awareness of environmental impact of doing unnecessary cleaning and laundry. Access to the building: there's a poorly designed collection of steps and a ramp leading to the entrance doors, but not a single railing to aid in climbing the steps. Unmarked/unpainted concrete made it difficult to see the edge of the top step, anyone with poor vision (or distracted by kids) could miss that top step and take a tumble. No working ice machine!

This was a great budget friendly place to stay. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The room was updated and clean but more attention to the little details need to be given (curtains were broken in my room but were still able to cover the window). The halls, stairs and the outside of the building definitely need attention. If someone was looking for a place to stay and drove by, they would bypass this little gem. I will not hesitate to recommend the Red Maple Inn and would consider staying again when in Huntsville.

Weekend getaway

Size of room was great. They had a microwave and a mini refrigerator. Definitely could use an update. There was some holes in the walls stains on the bathroom curtain.
