"Although we didn't get to meet our hostess, the owner/host and his staff were fantastic. The pub was cosy and clean and extremely reasonably priced and the service was amazing. Very pleasant and friendly people who genuinely cared about making our stay pleasurable. Absolutely recommend and should we find ourselves down that way again, we will most certainly stay here. "I love this little pub - second time I’ve stayed here while passing through. The owners and staff are lovely, the food is nice, the rooms are comfortable, and the area is stunningly gorgeous - I’ve been on some great walks along the Dart River and the other way onto Dartmoor. It’d be a great place to stay for a walking trip. "

"I booked two nights for myself and my 12 yr old daughter. I was looking for somewhere with a bit of character, that was away from all the noise and bustle, had a good breakfast to set us up for the day and food available in the evening. I was not disappointed. The Weary Friar was such a great little find, a proper country pub with great food (nothing too fancy), friendly staff and peace and quiet to wake up to. Will definitely head there again!"

"Absolutely beautiful place, beautiful location I cant fault anything. Pub and local store in easy walking distance. Just be aware no local public transportation except taxi which have limited availability. Wasnt a big issue but if you want to go into Plymouth it was £25 each way to the train station with one train an hour. We brought our telescope but unfortunately had cloud cover but would be a perfect location for evening of star gazing "
