On the morning of February 1st, I arrived to check in after having called ahead well in advance to notify the hotel that I would be arriving late due to flight delays caused by a widespread snowstorm affecting much of the United States.
Despite this advance notice, I was informed upon arrival that I would be charged an additional fee for failing to check in in person, while still being charged the full rate for both nights, including the added fee. At no point during my call was I informed that an in-person check-in was required to avoid this charge.
Compounding the issue, the front desk attendant was exceptionally rude and unprofessional. She questioned why I was checking in late (which is neither relevant nor appropriate), initially refused to explain what the late fee was for, and handled the situation in a dismissive and hostile manner. I have never experienced treatment like this from hotel staff, nor have I ever been placed in a situation where payment felt coercive rather than transparent or fair.
This experience was deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable. I will not be staying at this property again, and I strongly urge management to review both the late check-in policy and the conduct of staff to prevent similar situations for future guests.
