"The hotel is visually beautiful - design wise and the room was very clean. Housekeeping on the first night/day let me down by not cleaning the room properly. Cups weren’t cleaned, they didn’t refill drinks sachets, didn’t tidy bathroom properly. The following days tidy was up to standard, but not the Saturday. Also, no sweet treat- like a little biscuit - for 5 star I really expected something nice…. Checking in was a bit confusing as there was a queue of 5/6 people and 5 staff- but only 1 member of staff checking us in. So that 15 min wait was not great. Breakfast was really good on day one but scrambled eggs were cold on day 2. I’d still recommend it, good location and very comfy bed."

"Big hotel with quiet room. Bed on the harder side but we like it that way. Semi open bathroom which means a door to the toilet but otherwise open, with a wall to the rest of the room. Had a view towards the eastern part of the city on the 7th floor. Free parking and the garage is accessible from the hotel with a special elevator- good! The evening restaurant is small with a limited menu. Well located close to the Wittenberg platz with U-bahn connections and a few minutes walk to KaDeWe. Would definitely chose Riu again!"

"For a hotel rated 4star, it is lacking some basic items - there is no bar fridge in your room, there is no towel rail in the bathroom wide enough to hold 2 towels (only one small towel at a time, which was threadbare - almost thin enough to push my finger through it and had loose pulled threads on the side seams.) No other hooks in the bathroom, no body lotion nor conditioner provided. Only 1 free bottle of water per person per stay. Staff were generally unhelpful. I had to ask daily for coffee pods to be replenished, and when I asked for milk I was only offered powdered milk sachets (no milk creme pods available apparently). I would have bought fresh milk if I had a fridge to store it in!! The hotel is in a good location - easy walking distance to shopping and public transport in Alexanderplatz. Our room was adjacent to an inner courtyard and we had no trouble with noise. Didn't have any meals at the hotel so can't comment here. Would I stay here again? NO! The hotel was too expensive and did not provide the level of accommodation that we would expect for the price. On this recent trip, we stayed in a number of European hotels - and this one was by far the most disappointing."

"Was asked to pay 15 euros to use the sauna (the pool and gym were apparently ‘complimentary’). Since when does an expensive hotel charge me for part of the fitness center?! A shameless cash grab."
