Absolutely amazing stay at Plantation Jan Thiel lodge. The lodge has so much character and is located in a beautiful setting. If I could give a Michelin star to Loeki, I would — the breakfasts were out of this world made with fresh local Ingredients and or so flavourful and healthy. All the staff were courteous and very nice.

We spent four nights at Plantation Jan Thiel Lodge (aka Landhuis Jan Thiel) in March after three nights in the heart of lively Willemstad, and it was the perfect contrast to city life. From the moment we booked, the exceptional service from house manager Loeki stood out—she answered every one of my many questions promptly and enthusiastically, making us look forward to our stay long before we arrived. We stayed in the stand‑alone cottage with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a well‑equipped kitchen, a cozy sitting area, a spacious patio, and our own private pool. The property felt refreshingly different—rural, remote, and rustic, with birdsong and breezes replacing city noise. So different from our usual hotel choices! Breakfast each morning was a highlight: fresh‑baked muffins or cake, fruit, granola, yogurt, and made‑to‑order entrées like eggs, banana pancakes, or oatmeal. Easily one of the best breakfasts we’ve had at a boutique property anywhere. The walk to Jan Thiel Beach was longer than expected, and we did get lost in the salt flats twice—but the landscape was fascinating, and spotting a flamboyance of flamingos made it well worth it. Most of our days were blissfully low‑key. We spent our time reading, playing cards, and taking dips in either our private pool or the main one just steps away. Plantation Jan Thiel Lodge is the kind of place that lingers in your memory for its tranquility and the priceless feeling of being deeply cared for.

Spectacular stay! Loeki is very welcoming and makes you feel comfortable. This is more of a B&B experience. Grounds are impeccable and room was clean and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the double room on the main floor. Room was on the small side, even for a couple, so next time I would stay on the second floor. There’s a bit more privacy on the second floor as well. There’s a communal fridge and kitchen which you are welcome to use. Coffee, homemade artisan teas, and cold water(fruit infused or plain) is available at any time. The house dogs are well behaved and a joy to be around - you need to be comfortable with animals. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Loeki was easily able to accommodate a gluten- free diet. You’re a short 7 min drive from Jam Thiel beach and many others within 15 min. Close to Willemstad but still in nature, right next to the salt pans - beautiful trails you can easily access from the property. I cannot say enough great things about Plantation Jan Thiel! It’s important to note that it’s a country chic place so go with that expectation. We loved it and hope to return again soon!

BEST PLACE WE'VE EVER STAYED!! Loeki was the most incredible hostess at this beautiful bed and breakfast. She thinks of every 5 star detail from mint water in the refrigerator to making the most delicious breakfasts including cappuccinos or hot herbal teas, fruit smoothies, delicious pancakes, french toast, omelettes, fresh delicious fruit breads, yogurt bowls with granola, and fresh fruit. Every breakfast was not only healthy abut also most generous in portion size. We skipped eating lunch most days and we'd just eat dinner. Loeki helped us plan our daily schedules with great suggestions for things to see and places to eat. The grounds are gorgeous and our Red Cottage was even better than expected. Loeki connected us with someone to transport us to and from the airport and rented us an electric car for close trips and a gas car if we were going farther. She made everything simple and hassle free. There was no rush to check out at a certain time and we left feeling like we had a new family member in her. I loved that we could walk to the saltpans with the owner's two dogs and see the flamingos. There was a wonderful pool on the property AND the red cottage that we stayed in also had a pool. Why stay at a resort with a hundred other people when you can stay at an intimate bread and breakfast with only a few others! It was a fantastic trip and we can't wait to visit again!
