"Stayed at The Clair for 3 nights recently. The front desk staff was very efficient and welcoming throughout the stay. The location was very convenient, and overall the hotel was fairly quiet — even being on the 3rd floor near the pool area, hallway noise was minimal.
The hotel was renovated a few years ago, according to staff, and while everything appeared to be in acceptable condition from a maintenance standpoint, the overall design direction felt confused. It seemed to attempt a semi–Art Deco update, but it never fully came together. There were still traces of what may have been the original Holiday Inn / influence underneath, and honestly, embracing and refining that into a cleaner Updated Mid-Century Modern concept would likely have created a much stronger identity.
Unfortunately, the rooms carried the same somewhat dull and heavy atmosphere as the lobby and common areas. Housekeeping also missed a few details during the stay — we had to request fresh coffee mugs, and the drinking glasses were never replaced during the three nights.
Overall, the stay was comfortable enough because of the quiet environment, efficient staff, and convenient location, but the property could benefit from a more cohesive design vision and tighter housekeeping attention."
