"Great place! Comfy, clean, unique. Even though it’s just outside of town, it’s wooded and we woke up to elk just outside the windows every morning. We loved our stay here."

"The location is excellent for visiting the Rim Country. There are a lot of amenities available, and I can see why families would want to stay here. An added plus is that you are pretty much off the grid. The immediate vicinity of the lodge has Wi-Fi that is iffy at times, but there is no cell service once you venture a few yards from the buildings. The restaurant was very disappointing with several tables complaining about cold food, burgers that took 45 minutes to arrive, and the limited hours. I heard from others that it is great, so maybe just a bad night. But the rooms have kitchens, so that is the best option. The ranch area is very clean and well kept and the rooms are large. I was surprised when I asked the concierge/hostess about how to get to the Rim, waterfall hikes, or other hikes. She said she had no idea. Without cell service, once you leave the property you need old school maps to get around. Most of the national parks open in May, so early April is the perfect time to visit. On several hikes we only crossed with 4-5 people. Even on the Rim there were few people since the campgrounds weren't open yet. Kohl's Ranch is the perfect place to set out to Shoofly Ruins, Waterwheel falls, Tonto Natural Bridge, drive the Rim stopping at Woods Canyon Lake and Bear Canyon Lake. I would like to go back again."
"Room was clean but dated. Amenities were limited. Room size is great and nice to have a slider that opened to a grassy area. Slider itself was hard to open. Breakfast was good. Staff very friendly. "
