"If you’re looking for a hotel that nails the basics and then casually throws in cookies, the Country Inn in Champaign is your place.
Check-in was smoother than the gravy on the breakfast biscuits, and we were greeted with warm cookies—which is basically the hospitality equivalent of a hug from grandma.
The next morning, breakfast came through clutch: waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and coffee that was not only drinkable but actually enjoyable. That’s a rare hotel breakfast achievement worthy of a standing ovation.
The bed was comfortable enough that I briefly considered extending my stay indefinitely. Plenty of TV channels kept the remote busy, and the location is fantastic—surrounded by enough restaurants that deciding where to eat was the hardest part of the trip.
Checkout may have been the easiest I’ve ever experienced. No lines, no hassle, no awkward front desk small talk. Just a quick text and a “piece out” as we hit the road.
Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, easy check-in and checkout, solid breakfast, and cookies. What more could you want?
