"1 Star – Predatory Fees, Religious Discrimination, Zero Accountability
Hotel Ruby in Spokane charged me a $22 "entertainment fee" , a thinly veiled alcohol charge from their bar, without disclosing it anywhere in my reservation. When I checked in and explicitly told the front desk agent that I do not drink alcohol for religious reasons and would not accept the charge, he looked me in the eye and told me it was policy. End of discussion.
That's not policy. That's forcing a charge on a guest for something they don't want, didn't use, and objected to on religious grounds.
I then contacted Expedia three separate times to dispute the charge. Each agent offered sympathy, vague promises to "email the property manager," and one even tried to buy my silence with a $50 credit toward a future booking, as if I'd ever book through them again. No refund was issued. No one took responsibility. Expedia's final answer was essentially: the hotel won't budge, so good luck.
Let's be clear, Expedia failed to disclose mandatory fees at the time of booking, failed to advocate for their customer, and then had the audacity to suggest I use a discount credit on a future reservation. There won't be one.
This isn't a misunderstanding. It's deceptive billing, and both Hotel Ruby and Expedia own it equally. Stay somewhere that respects its guests."
