It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Hotel mit traumahftem Blick ins Tal.

Tolles Hotel mit netten und hilfbereiten Mitarbeiterin. Hatten sogar Glück und haben ein Upgrade auf ein besseres Zimmer bekommen und deswegen den wunderschönen Blick.

Fantastic little hideaway in Kandy

The hotel is just out of the hussle and bustle of Kandy city - about a 15min Tuktuk ride. Perfect to see all the sights in and around Kandy and then come back and relax in peace and quiet. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the owner arranged trips and drivers in and around the Kandy area. The food is was amazing particularly Hassida's vegetable curry!

Relax for a few days at this retreat

Overall we enjoyed our stay in this retreat, the facilities were built around a house with a lot of history. We stayed in the main house it self but for the full getaway experience they have a number of bungalows that include their own personal dining areas for you to recive your meals. We will consider staying in the future for upto four nights of winding down and resting. Note transport is required to access this hotel. As the town is not within walking distance. -- Pros -- Our host were excellent and went the extra mile to look after us extremely well. The Food was very good, meals on the menu were priced in dollars from 8 to 20 dollars for a main dish. --Checklist -- Hot water availablility - 30ltr and tank in room so limited to 6 minutes before you need to wait for it to warm back and up. Shower strength - good water pressure Room Size - Our deluxe room was Extremely large, with high ceiling and a balcony. Hanging space and draws - Some but very Limited Insects - Small number of Ants in bathroom Daily room cleaning - adequate Sound proofing - none, sounds travel in the house. Was not much of a problem for us as this is a spacious house. Internet - Good for web browsing

Private Villa , ruhig in erhöhter Lage über Kandy

Villa etwas schwierig zu finden. Liegt versteckt in den Bergen am Hang. Hotel bietet Tuk Tuk Fahrer an um nach Kandy und zurück zu kommen. Preis 2000 Rupien. Grosse Zimmer mit Holzboden, sehr ruhig, Frühstück auf Terrasse . Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Ruhig gelegenes und liebevoll gestaltete Villa

- Personal bemüht sich sehr, den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen, ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit - idyllisch und ruhig in den Bergen gelegen mit tollem Ausblick (kleiner Nachteil: die Tuk-Tuk-Fahrer verlangen zwischen 400-600 Rupien pro Fahrt ab dem Zentrum Kandys) - Villa und die Zimmer sind sehr hübsch gestaltet und möbliert mit Liebe zum Detail; allerdings hätten wir uns ein Moskito-Netz gewünscht, da in den Breitengraden doch viele Lebewesen in die Zimmer eindringen können - Essen ausgezeichnet, á la carte allerdings verhältnismäßig teuer

bungalow trop cher pour ce que c'est

Déçus par la position de l hôtel. Nous avons été induits en erreur par le positionnement géographique sur TripAdvisor. Nous la pensions près de la gare. Pas du tout. La chambre dans le bungalow a une jolie vue mais sinon elle est extrêmement défraîchie par rapport aux photos qui nous donnent une impression de luxe.les lucarnes d aération sont fermées par des moustiquaires toutes trouées. La terrasse du chalet voisin (derriere) donne directement sur la baie de votre chambre et donc fausse impression d intimité. Quant à la salle de bain elle fait plutôt miteuse. Nous pensions faire le repas dans la maison principale mais on nous a servi sur notre terrasse sans autre alternative et de plus comme une faveur. Le jeune cuisinier est le seul point positif de cet hôtel. Grâce à ses bons conseils il nous a conduit à la gare de peradenya ou nous avons pris le train pour Ella au lieu de le prendre à kandy centre. C est l astuce pour avoir la certitude d une place assise.

Nice views but over priced

We found villa shendoah too remote 15 mins outside of Kandy. it had nice views but felt it wasn't good value for money we have stayed in nicer places that were cheaper.

Lovely place, but consider location

First and foremost, the people at this hotel go out of their way to keep you happy. We were disappointed to discover we weren't booked into one of the villas, which we thought was misleading given the pictures, but the room we had at the back was OK and they did their best to accommodate us. Food is quite good in the restaurant and the overall setting is excellent. The location is the biggest thing to consider at this hotel; being in the surrounding hills of Kandy is beautiful, and quiet; the downside is you can't really walk anywhere so you'll need to arrange a tuk tuk or taxi for everything. We ended up using one tuk tuk driver for our two-day stay in Kandy. If you want easier access to restaurants and the town, stay elsewhere. But if you want to stay in a relaxing, pretty villa, stay here! Just be sure to ask if you're in a villa or a room.

山の中のセンスの良いプチホテル

21時チェックイン、翌8時チェックアの短時間滞在でしたが鳥や犬の声しか聞こえず。リラックスできました。朝は静かな朝靄の中 美味しいイングリッシュブレックファーストをいただきました。ロビーの調度品のセンスも良く、部屋も新しく快適です。ただ、山の中のため、蟻やヤモリが屋内にいます。 スタッフの対応も丁寧で居心地がよかったです。 機会があればまたゆっくりと泊まりたいです。

A hotel with huge potential but needs improving

I'm really sad to say this but I was disappointed with our stay here. The hotel has such potential; the views are incredible, the rooms are pretty and quite unique, and the staff are very friendly. Plus the breakfast was amazing! The home made bread in particular was just beautiful! However, a couple of issues unfortunately over shadowed the great potential of this hotel. Firstly, the bugs - they were everywhere! I get that we are in the middle of Sri Lanka's hills and that bugs are to be expected, but there were SO many and they were literally everywhere, I feel the hotel could do something to reduce how many they were, perhaps better insulation or even those plug-in bug detracting things. Secondly, the cleanliness, we didn't get housekeeping everyday like advertised and when they did come in one day they simply made the bed; the glasses hadn't been washed and there were dead bugs all over the floor (which obviously hadn't been swept) and there were cobwebs with other dead bugs in the lamp on the bedside table. It wasn't me being picky and overly looking into these things as it was glaringly obvious. And finally, we had no hot water for 1.5 days. The hotel relies on solar heating, which is great, but as it had been a cold and wet day, there was no hot water, which on a day like that is when you would want it most! This is all stuff that could be rectified so hopefully the hotel will take these comments on board and if they do this hotel would be an amazing place to stay.

I found best hotel in Kandy.

Beautiful villa hotel on the mountain. Want to stay there longer. It is located on the mountain. I was looking for remote place from city, but this is not too far from city center. Birds singing, beautiful trees, nice staffs, beautiful interior, spacious room, nice foods...I like everything!

Phone before you book.

On arrival they told me they had double booked and so I couldn't stay at this hotel. The lady said she forgot to block bookings after the last room had gone. For me this is bad business. It is located at the very top of a long and winding road, there is nothing else around but spectacular views.

Nice and very pleasant stay, with very kind and helpful staff. An impresive colonial house within an amazing view from the whole valley. The only (small) inconvinient is the distance to Kandy city center (more than 5 km), easily solved by using tuk-tuk. With no doubt, a place to come back.

Charming hill top retreat

We had 2 great nights here, the staff were super cheerful and attentive. The food was excellent. Our room had an amazing balcony to sit and view the Kandy valley. Wifi was really excellent. The location is 15 mins drive from Kandy but that was great as it meant you were in a more relaxed place than chaotic Kandy. The only negative was how many neighbouring dogs barked loudly late at night, not the hotels fault but if you're a light sleeper may be an issue.
