"Really enjoyed our recent stay; Spotlessly clean throughout Excellent roof terrace with pool, loungers and bar Great breakfasts Very quiet in a central location. Only thing is maybe the fact that the inward facing rooms are a little bit dull due to limited daylight."

"Lovely big stylish room. 51 right by terrace. Tiny interval courtyard window but excellent lighting. Lots of wardrobe space, queen sized comfy bed, marble bathroom, plenty of towels, coffee machine plus kettle for tea. Supplied topped up daily. Good hairdryer and safe. Nice art on walls. Spent quite a lot of time on the terrace, wish bar was open, as a lot of guests up there between 4 and 7pm. Apparently it opens 1st May. Excellent choices for breakfast- 3 interconnected basement rooms, lovely staff, most days I had a full English cooked to order, then fruit, yogurt and gluten free options always available: bread, croissants and brownies. Salad and cheeses plus very processed meat products available. Different fruit juice everyday. Lots of teas including decaffeinated tea. I did have a refreshing dip in the pool on the roof, it's alright once you get in. The building is beautiful- it was a pleasure to stay in a 17th century palace, so central for all Valletta has to offer. The real strength of the Palais is the incredible staff. Many thanks to Leyla, the Queen of reception who makes everyone feel so welcome. Also Ana May and Leizel. Thank you for your excellent service at breakfast to lovely Marvy, Badel and Kyro, and all the team. The hotel is sparkling clean throughout and obviously very well run. The only improvement would be to be able to get food at the hotel. "

"Had a very comfortable stay at 115 The Strand staff were all very friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable stayed in economy room which had no view/outside space but that was my chose and as hotel full and didn’t realise how much I would miss having somewhere to sit outside , didn’t use the indoor pool next to sauna/steam room which was small and more a dipping pool as not big enough to swim in but on a cold wet day I presume would be quite nice to chill by, the outdoor pool across the road was a big bonus though . Breakfast was enough to start the day with a small selection of cereal, fruit, continental and English breakfast and in the evening the breakfast are became the bar . There was a small shop attached to the hotel that stayed open late and a restaurant which I didn’t use . Not much of down side except if your really fussy shower was a little hit and miss with getting the heat settings right , breakfast could be very busy but that what you would expect and although the staff would try their very best to keep up with cleaning tables and topping up the food, it could get a congested and the floor would get very dirty and I presume it may have been dust off the road or off the roof would blow around and land on your food if you sat outside but the view made up for that. In all I would like to say lots of bad things about my stay to keep this hotel to myself but the at would be selfish as would definitely stay again . "

"This was our third visit to the Barcelo Fortina - we visited twice last year and returned this April with friends. However, we had noticed a couple of things that will deter us from booking again. Firstly, I have to say that the staff and rooms are truly excellent - staff are friendly, helpful and faultless. A couple of things riled us at this visit. The friends that we brought along with us needed some extra milk for their tea in their room ( they leave two small sachets only) and when they requested the milk, the bar said that there would be a charge for it! The second and more unpleasant aspect was when we went to try and get sun loungers by the pool.... we were told when we arrived that they had to be booked a day ahead. However, one afternoon, we thought we would risk it and see if there was anything available as we thought some people may have vacated by then. We asked at the pool reception and told that it would cost 120 euros to have a sunbed! We walked away confused. We then went to reception to BOOK a sunbed for the following day,,, duly arrived with our slip of paper and told we were only allowed a sunbed furthest away from the sea and the pool with only the back of peoples heads as a view even though there were plenty of better sited beds available. It seems that as we were hotel residents, and as the pool area is now not owned by the hotel, there are only a few sunbeds reserved for hotel guests. Sadly, we will be looking for a different hotel next year....."

"The rooms are spacious and the showers are powerful, although the rooms are a bit dated. The hotel is in a great position a few minutes walk from the Triton fountain. The buffet breakfast has a great variety and all well presented. The staff are all so friendly and very helpful. The outdoor pool area is very spacious and there are plenty of sunbeds available. The only downside of the hotel is there are a lot of steps or a steep climb from the hotel to the Main Street so not ideal if you have walking difficulties We have stayed here before and will stay again in the future."

"Overall average stay. Problems included: no microwave, really warm room at some points with no solution as AC system couldn't be controlled by the staff (?), hot water got cut off multiple times in the room so couldn't shower, no locks on bathroom door, lack of hangers and hooks, and a bad toilet flush. Breakfast was decent, not too much variety and quite repetitive, but catering staff were very nice - they cooked vegetarian options if you asked. Room cleaning staff were also nice. Hotel staff in the reception weren't though."
