"Friendly and professional staff. Wonderful evening meal (the Halloumi Flatbread was delicious). Good parking, spacious bedroom well appointed. The chilled complimentary fruit juice & water was much appreciated after a 400 mile journey! My only issue was that room 4 was right over the outside seating area and I can only imagine that during World Cup season this could prove to be a problem. As it was I did have the creaking stairs (access for all guests) and loud music blasting from the bar below...

"I booked a standard ensuite double room but upgraded to the Tudor Suite. I chose this hotel because it is hundreds of years old, which is something we don’t get to experience much in the USA! "Quirky with some lovely staff in the evening in the restaurant. The gardens are also beautiful but small things could really enhance the hotel to get more from its potential. My stay improved after a few small disappointments. The room was warm and quiet. The meal on the second night was excellent (first night's green curry with poppadoms was less so and lacking in flavour)."

"5 different members of staff spoke to me from the maintenance man, three of the desk team and two members of staff at breakfast. Felt very very welcomed and genuinely looked after. I usually stay at a Travelodge or a Premier Inn. I will only stay here now. Cleaner, better maintained, more friendly, good room design, useful amenities, handy alcohol vending machine. Free tasty breakfast. Quiet in the night. A great stay."
