"The location worked for me: a lot of the art and visitor attractions are nearby and within walking distance. It's a short walk to the evening life of De Wallen (the red light district) or to Rembrandt Square and places to eat; a longer walk to the Rembrandt House or the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Walking in Amsterdam seems to be quicker than driving.
My bedroom was (or seemed to be) a quirky, modernized loft: clean, angular, modern in an anodyne and uncharacterful way. The bed was comfortable. Closet/wardrobe storage was somewhat limited. The way in which the light switches, particularly the master switch, was odd. The bathroom was functional. I prefer showers, so for me it was fine that there was no bathtub but there was a good size shower.
I was never able to work out the air-conditioning controls. Most of the time the bedroom was too cold. But as the summer temperature was so hot outside it was good to have such effective air-conditioning.
Amsterdam prices are high. Relative to US hotel prices, I felt the rate per night was expensive for what the room was, but perhaps European visitors would feel differently."
