"The Westdrift Manhattan Beach, Autograph Collection was okay overall, but definitely not worth the price.
I paid about $370 for one night, and one of the biggest issues was the water being completely shut off from 11pm to 6am. This meant no ability to shower, use the sinks, or even properly use the bathroom during that time. After getting back late from a concert, that was extremely inconvenient and honestly unacceptable for a hotel at this price point. Situations like that should come with some kind of discount or accommodation.
I do want to give credit where it’s due — January at the front desk was excellent. She was welcoming, helpful, and honestly the highlight of the stay.
The room itself was nice and the view was solid, but the restaurant experience the next morning was disappointing. The lobby restaurant only has around 7–8 tables, and we were told we couldn’t sit outside due to a lack of chairs, which seemed odd.
Service was slow — we even saw another guest waiting over 10 minutes just to be acknowledged.
We kept it simple and ordered:
• 2 eggs
• 1 side of potatoes
• 2 coffees
Total came out to $42, with a 20% tip already included — and then we were prompted to tip more. For that amount of food, that pricing felt excessive.
Overall, not a terrible stay, but definitely overpriced for the experience. Given the water issue and overall service, I would expect better or some form of compensation. Next time I’d likely stay at Marina del Rey Hotel instead."
