"The room was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. It had a kitchen, but absolutely no kitchen items. Not even a coffee maker or cups for coffee (not even paper cups to use in the microwave for tea). I believe you can borrow a coffee maker but you need to bring your own cups and coffee. There is a Starbucks close by. We had 2 small bath towels and 2 wash cloths, no hand towels or bathmat. I'm not sure if these would be provided if we asked. Our room was on the 4th floor. "It was a convenient place to stay on the way to Yosemite. We really liked the lady at reception - a real character and helpful. The free coffee in the morning was bonus. The only issue for us was staying on the second level - there was no lift to take all of our luggage up so we had to use the stairs. Thinking back to the location in Oakdale, it was really convenient to get to a great bar and grill."

"The lodging looks old fashioned but well kept from the outside, but it is extremely well built, recently refurbished, modern, clean, and very quiet on the inside. Even the train whistles off in the distance were a source of comfort. This inn is the very best of basic lodging. The owner and his staff were attentive without being intrusive. We stayed 3 nights and it is one of the best places we've stayed during our travels of the past 5 years."
