Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa

"The hotel is set in a fantastic location overlooking the sea, with a lovely beach right on the doorstep. The grounds have a beautiful tropical feel, with plenty of plants and trees, which creates a sense of seclusion, particularly around the villas and the beachside pool. The staff were fantastic throughout our stay — always friendly, helpful and welcoming, and consistently greeted us with a smile. Breakfast was also very good, with a wide selection of options as well as freshly cooked eggs, pancakes and other dishes available to order. We ate twice at the premium restaurant, Tawann, and on both occasions the food and service were excellent. We would highly recommend eating there. Our villa was clean and comfortable, but unfortunately it felt somewhat dated and shabby in places. For example, the curtains looked grubby and in need of a clean, while one was also ripped. As a result, the room didn’t quite feel up to the standard we would expect from a five-star property. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The location, beautiful grounds, excellent staff and quality of the food were all highlights. However, the property would benefit from some investment and modernisation to bring the rooms and facilities up to the five-star standard they are aiming for."

"Friendly Staff and Excellent Location, With a Few Areas for Improvement I stayed at Centara Life Lamai Resort Samui and found the staff to be extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. Whenever I had an issue, they genuinely did their best to address it, and I appreciated how accommodating they were throughout my stay. The location is one of the hotel’s biggest strengths. It’s only about a two-minute walk to Lamai Beach and right in the middle of the area, with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and nightlife within easy walking distance. The rooms were also very spacious and comfortable, which was a definite plus. There are a few things I think could be improved. I would suggest providing small washcloths in the bathrooms and having security available both during the day and at night. The gym could also use an upgrade, although I really appreciated that the staff provided me with a new yoga mat when I needed one. The biggest issue for me was the nighttime noise. Because this is a smaller hotel located close to the street and nightlife, there was significant noise during my stay, generally from around 10:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. I was able to discuss and resolve my concerns with the manager, who was very kind and professional, but light sleepers should definitely keep the location and potential noise in mind when booking. "Good location, great staff, nice breakfast, beautiful views and good atmosphere. Room for improvement: Bathroom smells like sewerage (perhaps the reason of the visit of some cockroaches). The area surrounding the pool is very slippery. All of us fell at least once. Expensive compared to other locations we stayed."
