Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

6/10 Okay

"Our first room was a timeshare with most of the storage locked. No place to unpack bags. The air conditioning didn’t work and we were moved to a new room which was much better the next day. I still don’t know what the resort fee was for other than the pool, path to the beach and parking. Looks more like a way to disguise the true cost of the room in the booking services. The Tiki bar wasn’t open and the afternoon arrival had no evening restaurant available. We liked the area but since they couldn’t assure me that I could get the second room I doubt I would go back."

"The property was very nice and comfortable. The complimentary evening drinks and breakfast were a great bonus, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the breakfast was. The pool was nice, although it looked a little bigger in the photos. The location was one of the best parts of the stay. The views were great, downtown was within walking distance, and it was easy to get to restaurants, shops, and attractions. Wrightsville Beach was also only a short drive away, which made it convenient to enjoy both the beach and downtown during the trip. My only criticism is that the property could have been cleaner, especially considering the price and overall appearance of the hotel. Even so, I had a very enjoyable stay and would consider staying here again."

"The place was clean looking on the surface but when you looked closer, the base of the air conditioner was broken in several pieces. Parts of the lights around the bathroom mirror were out. The bathroom baseboards were filthy."
