"My stay at the Key Largo Inn was extremely short-lived — and for good reason. I arrived with my wife and our one-year-old child to check in, only to be told at the counter that we couldn’t have the room we booked. Instead, the person working there made a few remarks and suddenly said we’d have to “upgrade” the room. The price magically jumped from about $130 a night to $280 a night.
It felt like a complete bait-and-switch.
We decided not to deal with the headache and left. Thankfully we found a much nicer hotel just down the street.
After seeing the place in person, it honestly didn’t look very appealing anyway. The property sits right next to the road, the “lobby” is basically a side door next to a bar, and the overall vibe was not somewhere you’d want to stay with a family.
If you’re just looking for a place to get drunk and pass out, maybe it works. But if you’re traveling with family or want a smooth, normal check-in experience, I would steer clear. This place managed to ruin what should have been a simple night stay."
