This beach is where you’ll find coconut trees, beachfront villas and not much else.
Lipa Noi Beach is geared toward travellers who are looking for a more relaxing getaway, free from the parties and nightlife Koh Samui and the surrounding islands are known for. As a result, older travellers and those with younger kids make up a large portion of the visitors.
The beach is also a favourite of those who visit Koh Samui by the car ferry from the mainland. The Raja Ferry disembarks just to the south of Lipa Noi, which makes the area a great first stop if you plan on driving around the island.
The beach itself is known for its pristine white sands, clear blue water, and shallow, flat seabed. It is also free from coral, making it safer for younger kids, and perfect for water sports such as sailboarding and kayaking. Lie about on the beach, or join a game of beach volleyball if you’re feeling a little more active.
Apart from the beach, Lipa Noi is rather bare considering the main attraction is the isolation from the larger tourist centers, it certainly makes sense. If you’re travelling with kids, however, you might like to head up through the coconut plantations for a drive, or make your way to Paradise Park Farm, in the hills to the east. The farm is home to hundreds of birds, both local and foreign, and has a pool with possibly the best panoramic views on Koh Samui.
You’ll find plenty of restaurants in the resorts around Lipa Noi. Make sure you swing by the local institution, Big John Seafood, for some of the best eating on Koh Samui. You can dine alfresco while watching the sun set over the islands of the Ang Thong National Park.
Lipa Noi Beach is located on the western side of Koh Samui, just north of the Raja Ferry Terminal.
