"Our favourite place to stay while we are in the Halifax/Bedford area. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming, hotel is well maintained, rooms are clean and beds are very very comfortable. Breakfast is plentiful and again very clean. Coffee and tea are always available in the lobby. Conveniently located with easy access to the highway and just a short drive to Costco and Bayer’s Lake shopping/dining district."
"What a lovely stay! The rooms were updated and well appointed. We were happy to find some dishes and cutlery as we were hoping for a little picnic for supper. The bathrooms were modern and clean. We were travelling with friends and it was perfect to have the two rooms side-by-side. This stay was a highlight for us."
"Hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable, however located 20 minutes drive from downtown Halifax and had no amenities near by. The room was large but slightly dated bathrooms. Staff were friendly but very unprofessional, the two front desk agents were on their personal cellphone everything we walked through the lobby. We booked in the first floor for an accommodation when we got there we found first floor was actually up a flight of stairs.
Would not recommend staying even in the price range you could find something in a better location. There was ample parking. The cook to order breakfast for a fee they advertise is just the attached restaurant with no discounts or anything for hotel guests and it doesn’t open till 10am."
"Our stay was pleasant! Cottage was standing perfectly in a peaceful yet perfect sound of the ocean. Breezy but beautiful! Would love to go back with kids next time."
"We enjoyed our stay at The Black Forest, despite the cold and rain. The cabin was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed, but it would have been nice to have a microwave and freezer; however, we knew there wasn't either when we booked - just a comment really. We felt like we were in the woods, yet we were close enough to walk to several restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay at the Cabins again."
"The hotel was excellent. The dinner and breakfast we had was exceptional. Best dinner we had in a long time. Overall a great place and highly recommend."
"Margaret the owner of this beautiful offering was truly a gem. She was nice, accommodating, informative and all around made you feel at home. Her house is directly in the heart of Mahone Bay with many eateries and cafes along with shops in close proximity. Her breakfast in the morning was delicious and lovingly served (fresh made muffins with tasty preserves along with fresh fruit, freshly baked croissants, eggs of your choice, bread and bagels.
Our room consisted of the king bed and private balcony. The full bathroom is shared (shower only), and with another half bath on main floor. If you have mobility issues, the rooms in the house are one flight of stairs up.
“Thank you Margaret for your hospitality and loves to “Chevy” your dog.”"
