We loved staying in the Gardener’s Cottage C1830. So quiet and was like stepping back in time. Great walking this historic estate, superb rose garden, farm buildings and convict history.

Charm and history
This was an experience. Having the estate to ourselves and a few other guests out of hours was lovely - wander the gardens in peace and at sunset. The coachhouse is old - of course it is - it was built in the 1800's but lovely and with character. The staircase is steep and narrow - so if you have reduced mobility then probably not the best choice. The resident rooster happily woke us around 5am! but all part of the charm. We really enjoyed the House tour also as part of our stay and of course the Rose gardens at the perfect time of year. Everything on hand that you would need.

It’s 200 years old has good heating , it’s so peaceful and serene, if your after 5 star luxury this is not the place if you like making a fire and peace and quiet among history this is it , can’t wait to take my parents back

We stayed in the historic Blacksmith cottage and the inside was comfortable and with modern facilities. We could wander the grounds and have an excellent tour of the house. Could improve on the teabags. Excellent stay.

Loved our cottage The Gardeners Cottage. Was away from the other cottages, quiet and peaceful with the Rose Gardens bordering our back yard. Was disappointed there was nowhere to eat.

Set within the secured parameters of the original 1817 estate, staying in the Cooper's Cottage was absolutely delightful. The self-contained accommodation was well-appointed and the amenities were excellent. Sitting by the fire was super relaxing and there was plenty of wood and kindling. The evening wildlife is so tame and the morning roosters are just priceless. The road to Longford was flooded, but there were groceries available in Evandale and Perth, as well as the longer drive around to Longford. It's unclear if the water is bore or drawn from the river, but it's worth noting that it is tinted orange and the Estate supplied 10 litres of drinking water. This place is absolutely super value for money, with one free Estate tour included with the accommodation and a very cheap option to extend into other tours too. We loved it and the flowers around our cottage were just delightful!

It was interesting staying on such an old Estate. Accommodation in the former Blacksmith's cottage, given that right next door was an original unrestored building at present used for firewood, gave us an idea of what things must have been like all those years ago. Our tour of the House was very informative - thank you, Helen. Our stay was very much enjoyed. Lunch at the Nigel Peck Centre cafe was very good.

A beautiful old cottage in good condition and clean on a large fenced yard. Great wood heater, beautiful views and lovely large areas to walk. Note stairs in Coachhouse are very narrow, steep and curved, bedrooms upstairs and bathroom & toilet downstairs. Very peaceful & great to relax.

Historic property stay
Ww really enjoyed staying at this historic property. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. It was a cold night but we could keep warm in the cottage. It's only a 5 minute drive into Longford where there are numerous dining options. I would certainly recommend staying at Woolmers Estate.

Peace & tranquility in colonial charm
The Gardener’s Cottage is just gorgeous to stay in. We had 2 nights and could have stayed there for many nights. Beautiful serenity. We were able to do the self-guided walk of the property after closing time. (House visit is still at set times at a slight discount). No wifi and we couldn’t get the TV to work but no problem. Longford is a great local town too.

Great atmosphere in historic cottage and estate
Lovely peaceful location not far from Longford. I particularly enjoyed access to all the farm sheds very interesting collection of old farm machinery. Check in very easy and well explained. Only negative would be bedroom upstairs and bathroom downstairs.

Access to key box was difficult, bright light mounted to side of key boxes, and numbers on keys faded, made it difficult to see, no explicit instructions, twist switch at top just kept turning and clicking, slide switch (which I later noticed to have a label “cancel”) didn’t seem to do anything; eventually fluked the right number and got the box open. Instructions then were pretty straight forward and cottage easy to find. Thought we booked a cottage all on the same level, steep stairs to bedroom attic were challenging, especially with sharp grips on edge of steps, dangerous to diabetic feet when accessing downstairs toilet during the night. Otherwise a nice little quirky cottage, would be good experience for guests spending a couple of days there. Breakfast pack option would be a good idea; lack of potable water was a concern, even though eased by complimentary small bottles of warter

We are so sorry you had problems with checking in to the lock box but pleased once you got your key you found your cottage easily. The stair cases have the grips to avoid any slipping off the stairs. Fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in history. The cottages have a simple charm and character but are also fully equipped for all your comfort needs. Would love to visit in winter to take advantage of the fire place and welcoming hearth. Arrived after all the day visitors had left and really felt we had the place to ourselves to explore and enjoy the peace and beautiful setting.

The Coachman's Cottage is beautiful and very well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the rooms beautifully presented. The estate is so peaceful, and when it is closed to the public in the late afternoons / early mornings you feel that you have the whole place to yourself. Something that guests should be aware of is that the stairs are quite steep (due to the age of the building), so people with mobility issues may struggle getting up to the bedrooms. We blocked off the stairs / closed the doors so our young children could not access them. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to be able to return in the future and would definitely recommend staying at Woolmers Estate.

Living history
It is amazing to stay in an historic cottage in such an historic property. Wonderful to be able to wander about the property and stunning gardens. Woolmers gave us a great snapshot into early colonial life in Tasmania. Cottage is charming with good amenities. We enjoyed our Port by the open fire.

We would highly recommend staying - we were surprised to find a wonderful choice of traditional cottage accommodation in beautiful estate grounds. A log fire set ready was a great touch. Clean crisp fresh air outside, and the open country setting and plenty of grassed grounds and space between the cottages. Exploring the interesting early working buildings of the agricultural estate was fascinating. It was such a relaxing stay and a rare glimpse into a very different history of the area. The chance to wander through the magnificent rose garden at the height of its late Spring flowering season was magical, and the gardens would be lovely year round as well. We will definitely be back when we travel to Tasmania. It truly feels like a loved community setting, with many local volunteers giving time in the gardens.

The gardens are beautiful and the property in general was interesting in regard to its history. Unfortunately, our accomodation, Shepherds cottage to not be as clean as expected and the kitchen was not well equipped.

I am pleased you enjoyed walking around the grounds and gardens. It is unfortunate you was disappointed with the cleaning and equipment supplied in your cottage.
