Fireworks illuminate the night sky over a magical castle in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

One of the most famous theme parks in the world offers a land of fun and fantasy at the foot of a fairytale castle.

The first of the Florida-based theme parks, the Magic Kingdom® Theme Park is still central to most Orlando holidays. Six fantasy lands across 107 acres (43 hectares), morning-through-night entertainment and animatronic Disney characters all help to create an unforgettable experience for the entire family. Magic Kingdom® Theme Park was created from the vision of Walt Disney and opened in 1971.

Getting to Magic Kingdom® Theme Park is a fun ride in itself on a rapid monorail that makes stops throughout the park, including the main entrance, resort hotels and the different theme parks. Buses are also available, as well as the scenic Staten Island-inspired ferry, specifically built to transport visitors over the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Magic Kingdom® Theme Park is where childhood fantasies are brought to life. Cowboys strut in front of faded saloons in Frontierland® Area, wondrous creatures parade in the medieval Fantasyland® Area and the American Revolution is relived in colonial Liberty Square Area. Explore the jungles of the pirate-inspired Adventureland® Area, feel the speed of intergalactic travel in the Tomorrowland® Area, and visit the movie-inspired shops and cafes along the Main Street, U.S.A.® Area

Magic Kingdom® Theme Park has a never-ending party atmosphere, with scheduled parades passing beneath Cinderella Castle and fireworks displays most nights. Check out nightly pirate cruises on the lagoon, the in-depth backstage visitor tour, the gut-wrenching speeds of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad® Attraction, or the traditional barbershop offering cuts for the young and old.

Summer is the busiest time of year at Magic Kingdom® Theme Park, but the hours are extended, and special parades and events are held. Orlando gets plenty hot, but most rides and attractions have shaded areas for lining up. And you can always cool off on one of the water rides.
