I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience has been extremely disappointing.
I originally booked Sol Málaga Guadalmar around six months in advance, specifically to secure a good-quality hotel at a reasonable price. However, just one month before my trip, I was informed that the hotel could not honour my booking and I was moved to Sol Príncipe instead.
Unfortunately, the alternative provided is nowhere near a like-for-like replacement. The room I was given is of a much lower standard and feels more like a budget option than what I originally paid for. It’s frustrating because I booked early to avoid exactly this situation.
What makes matters worse is that I paid a higher price based on my original booking, yet I have not received any partial refund or price adjustment despite being placed in clearly inferior accommodation. This is completely unacceptable.
The condition of the room was poor, and the children’s sofa bed in particular was unacceptable — uncomfortable and clearly not suitable for proper use. Overall, the accommodation does not reflect the quality or value I expected.
This feels like a clear case of being mis-sold. If a hotel cannot honour a booking, the replacement should be of equal or better standard — not significantly worse, especially without any refund.
Very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend based on how this situation was handled.
