Sijainti erittäin rauhallisella ja turvallisella lähetystöalueella. Iso huone parvekkeella,mutta ei hissiä. Vuoteet ihanan isot, mutta patjat kaipaisivat päivitystä. Tilava, siisti kylpyhuone ja erillinen käsisuihku ilahdutti erityisesti. E-bookersissa väärä puhelinnumero sekä väärät aukioloajat respalle, aiheutti turhaa kiirettä liikenteessä ja mielipahaa. Henkilökunta erittäin ystävällistä ja joustavaa, useimmat osaavat englantia.

I like Sommerschield Gust House. I received a free upgrade at check-in. The room was nice and had a balcony. The staff is friendly and helpful even though some of them have limited command of English. There is a restaurant and full bar connected with the hotel. That makes it nice if one is too tired to venture out for a drink or a meal. The breakfast is included and is big and delicious. The wifi is good. There is also a pool. It's mu second time at Sommerschield, and I'll be happy to stay again when in Maputo.

Best night's sleep in Maputo

This was our favorite place to stay in Maputo! And we stayed at 4 other hotels in Maputo on our trip so believe me, when I say the best stay in that town! It was very spacious, very clean, felt like you were in an updated version of your bedroom at home. Felt very comfortable with a great bed. Customer service was good, but just needed more communication between staff. One manager made a sweet offer of allowing us to stay past the check out for an hour and half longer due to a later flight out, but on day of, acting manager and cleaning staff kept interrupting us. Basically by the second knock, came in, took our luggages downstairs snd called a taxi for us that we didn't need because we had arranged one already. I was pretty irritated by that, but came to the conclusion that it was just a language barrier. Would book here again.

Pleasant stay would recommend others.

Great place to stay! Quiet neighborhood, pleasant environment and good staff. Only negative was that the bed in my room was on the smallish side.

Friendly and like home

Excellent service. In fact the staff people there were extremely friendly and helpful. From entering the hotel door, to leaving it after check out, the total experience in this hotel I had, is way better than any of five or four star hotels I ever stayed. And I especially thank Rita, the hotel manager. She is not just friendly but also nice, helpful. Made me feel like a family member to this motel, not a guest. I will stay in this hotel next time and recommend to friends in the future.

Excellent value in Maputo

The Sommerschield Guesthouse and Restaurant is an excellent base for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. It is in a quiet neighborhood, has a very reasonable and tasty restaurant with bar, and the staff are very accommodating. Because I was there in low season, I was moved from the small, single that I booked into a larger, more comfortable double room at no cost for the last ten days of my stay. The WiFi was very reliable, with routers on every floor and the bar. I will definitely stay there again.

Good place.

Room is very good. Bathroom was surprising with no door and no shower curtain, splashing a little bit all over the bathroom. Area is very quiet. Pool area is very quiet and nice. Breakfast was good.

Stellar attention to every detail

When seeking a spot for our 10-day stay in Maputo, it looked like Sommerschield Guest House had all of the right qualities. We were looking for a nice space in a good location with a swimming pool. “Check, check, and check.” But there are so many things in the description of this wonderful haven that are missing online. The staff are stellar! They truly shine and go out of their way to make accommodations ideal. The hospitality started before we arrived in Maputo. Rita, the owner (who rarely takes time off), was generous is exchanging emails regarding helping us with a safari tour, and helping me to find dance classes. Once in the amazing Maputo, I could not help but to purchase capulana (the beautiful fabric). Staff at the Guest House arranged for a tailor to turn the cloth into custom made garments for me. When a car is available, different staff will offer rides into the heart of the city. This saves a bit of money. It also saves the hassle of finding a cab or tuk tuk to ferry us in. Everyone is most kind in offering guidance of what to do and not to do. The rooms are well maintained, immaculately clean, spacious and decorations are so appropriate. Comfortable beds, great coffee, bottled water each day and feeling safe, thanks to wonderful security all add to the stars that I give Sommerschield Guest House. What a wonderful place to call home for a week and a half! Thank you Rita and team!

Beautiful hotel, great value for the money

Booked this hotel on a whim, and it turned out to be the nicest most comfortable, homey place I've stayed in Maputo. And it was half the price of the cost of one of those big fancy hotels I had booked previously. Bathroom was gorgeous, shower was amazing with stone floor, design of room was very tasteful, the lighting was amazing, veranda was lovely, bed was super comfortable, wifi was fast, design all around hotel was lovely, homey, sophisticated. I could go on. Can't say enough good stuff about this place, I will definitely be back.

Beautiful property but lacking ambiance

It looked like I was the only customer (Christmas time), and I think this affected my stay. The room (room 1) was very nice; spacious, well decorated, balcony. Fast WiFI is provided and TV has many English-language channels. The pool area looked nice. Food was disappointing; a stale croissant for breakfast (great coffee though) and the pasta for dinner was dripping with oil. The starter came after the main. I was disappointed as other reviews have stated the warm welcome and feel of the place; I on the other hand felt a pretty cool vibe. The welcome was rushed and not friendly, and being alone clearly didn't add to the atmosphere. Owners/managers not seen at all after check-in.

Convenient and clean guest house

It is a beautiful guest house, with friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and a good atmosphere. One drawback is that they only start serving breakfast at 07:30, which could pose a challenge when having early meetings (traffic in Maputo is not the best in the mornings). But they did offer a light breakfast (sandwiches and fresh fruit) to be prepared the night before and taken up to the room. There are coffee making facilities in the room. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely recommend it and also stay there again.
