"The site is ideal for families with younger children. We were nervous after reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. We checked in online before hand, so it meant we were able to use the dedicated 'online check-in' line at the front desk (I could see that others were having a longer wait, especially when groups came in by coach)
Our interactions with staff were universally positive, with service staff in the main hotel area very friendly and helpful. The Activity Centre area staff were also friendly.
The pool area and changing rooms were clean and tidy. We really liked that there were two separate pools, as the shallower/warmer pool was ideal for our less-confident swimmers. The pool slide was out of service, so we hope to try it on a future visit.
Food was ok, but there weren't a huge number of vegan/vegetarian options, which was tricky for our family. It was disappointing that there were no vegetarian kids items at the kids activity zone cafe, but we were told that they are getting a new menu in the coming weeks, so that may change!
If you are unable to easily carry your own bags up stairs, please keep in mind when booking that there are no lifts to the upper floors. You should ask for a lower floor, or confirm with the hotel about what assistance might be available. My husband ended up helping a group of older persons with large suitcases up the stairs to their floor, as they were well enough to walk up the stairs but not strong enough to carry their cases."
"Absolutely amazing and stunning accommodation. Everything here is perfect, from the interior to the hot tub, to the glorious views.
When we walked in for a 3 night stay, we immediately booked a further night
We will deffo be booking up for a full week next year
Thankyou for such a wonderful stay"
"Family friendly, excellent room with seperate bunk beds in almost an alcove for the girls.
Lack of tech that would have allowed us to stream through TV and let them watch a film for bed.
Pool excellent, breakfast great for picky eaters"
"We really enjoyed our first stay at MacDonald Highland. It was instantly a child-friendly atmosphere (we were holidaying with a nearly 3 year old and a 5 month old) and the facilities for them were wonderful. The staff were particularly helpful and the family room set up was great although we had to drop the legs of a single bed down closer to the ground for our toddler as it was a bit too high.
Our only very small criticism was the apparent lack of sockets by the side of the bed for phone charging (this would help when konked out after trying to get two young children to sleep!)
We look forward to visiting again!"
"Although slightly above the town the hydro is almost unique in Pitlichry for the availability if parking. It maintains the air of Victorian grandeur at a very reasonable price"
"The property was nice. The room was good. Some lights didnt work, but it was fine. We were asked to book our time for breakfast so we thought it was included and instead we're charges a handsome fee."
