"Office is only monitored M-F business hrs. So not sure how to communicate after hours? We arrived late on Thursday and were not in the room we booked. Dealt with that issue in the morning on Friday and it was quickly resolved and our parking space was moved to a secure indoor parking space once they noticed we had bikes. "The breakfast was great especially made to order coffee one disappointing though was there was no restaurant attached other than the buffet breakfast and nothing very close to eat so if you came in as we did around 6:30 you basically had the snack area or skip which is what we did The front desk staff were great! Rooms were nice. Clean and large"

"The friendly hosts and the elaborate, tasty breakfast were the highlights of our stay here. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower set-up on the clawfoot tub reminded us of our first home and were fine, but a grab bar to help getting out would be helpful. The gardens were pleasant. The outside of the building was a bit tired and worn looking; I'm sure upkeep on such a large, historic building is tough."

"We’ve been staying @the HIS (this SJ location) about 6 times a year, for 2 + years. Our last visit was rather unpleasant, and quite frankly rather disappointing. The grout on the bathroom floor was coming-up between the floor tiles, a mess and first noticed, as I walked in the bathroom barefoot (ouch). "The staff was lovely but the room was very unclean. Stunk of cigarettes and there was burn holes in the bedding. Empty alcohol bottles and cans everywhere. We left immediately. The staff was lovely and looked defeated. My heart goes out to them but I couldn't stay there with my immune compromised husband and children "
