Top Martinez Hotel Reviews

Handlery Union Square Hotel
8/10 Good
"I have been waiting for this pool to open for nearly a year. Keep bringing a bath suit bc they say it’s either open or will be open by the 3/6. Didn’t happen. No snacks and restaurants close early in the area. Also restaurants are extremely expensive. "

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina
6/10 Okay
"Rooms need to be updated. Had a king bed and it was horrible nite sleep"

Hotel Julian
8/10 Good
"Just far enough from the rougher parts of town but ideal location to see most of what you’d want for walking around. The staff were great, very personable and friendly. Not haunted either. "

Holiday Inn Golden Gateway by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel is very central to restaurants, the Big Bus tours, and cable cars. Also a mile or two from the Marketplace, chinatown, bay cruises and lots more.
"

Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf
10/10 Excellent
"Clean rooms. Staff was friendly. The only down fall was the really small bathrooms and the 60.00 a night garage parking. Other than that it was a very convenient place to stay with kids since its located close to the wharf. "

Embassy Hotel
6/10 Okay
"I’m hoping someone reads this review because I wish I had read reviews before booking. First, this hotel is not affiliated with Embassy Suites. That’s what I assumed when I booked, but it’s actually a completely separate hotel called The Embassy.
It’s located in the Tenderloin District, one of the rougher areas of San Francisco. The location was not clearly advertised when booking, and if you’re a solo female traveler, I would strongly recommend avoiding this area. They even lock the front entrance door, so at times you have to ring a bell to be let in. That alone should tell you how rough the neighborhood can be.
To be fair, the towels and linens were clean and the staff was friendly, but the hotel itself is very dated and worn. The building has an old charm, but the moment we walked into our room it smelled like cigarette smoke, even though it’s supposed to be smoke-free. We had to notify management. There is no air conditioning, only an old furnace system that may or may not work. Luckily San Francisco weather is cool, so opening the window helped, but the street noise is loud, which may bother some guests.
Also, the photos on Expedia are heavily filtered and misleading compared to the actual condition of the hotel.Amenities are minimal, only a small fridge, no real extras, and the TV isn’t Bluetooth enabled.
If you just need a cheap place to sleep, it may be fine. But if you prefer cleaner, more modern accommodations or are traveling alone, I’d recommend staying elsewhere."

The Marker Union Square San Francisco
10/10 Excellent
"Our room was attractive. We were on the street so it was a little noisy at night. We enjoyed the coffee in the morning in the restaurant. The staff was helpful. Parking is expensive!"

YOTEL San Francisco
10/10 Excellent
"Yotel is an idea spot, especially if you are going to shows at Bill Graham Civic center! Suvch a quick walk! We also loved that Bay Wheels was right up front. We used the bikes to get all around the city and had a blast!"

Holiday Inn Express and Suites Fisherman's Wharf by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"We have visited San Fran many times over the years and generally default to staying near Union Square but our group was staying near Fisherman’s Wharf so we tried this hotel and found a new favorite! Location is fantastic. One block away from the wharf, which means many options for food & entertainment within walking distance. Just a Waymo ride away from downtown, The Haight, UCSF ect.
The hotel itself was extremely clean & staff was courteous. Breakfast was generous in both options and volume. Plenty to go around for all even though it was quite busy. They offer ice water, coffee & tea during non breakfast hours as well which was a perk we enjoyed while heading out for walks. We had two small dogs with us and a decent patch of grass is just one block up, quick convenient walk for potty breaks. Pillow quality was the only thing I might complain about but I find most hotel pillows lacking. We marked this spot as a new favorite and look forward to our next visit. "
