"Lovely hotel was being repainted as we stayed just out of season. The pool and restaurant were great and the staff were very helpful. Be aware the hotel is a little remote from anything else out of season and there no real entertainment around out of season, however the area looks like it would be lively in the season but please note the hotel is still a fair walk to the next bar or hotel and 20 mins to the main strip so tuk tuk will be required "

"I left my heart in Talalla Retreat. Incredible staff who were so welcoming and hard working, the Retreat itself is stunning. I had an upstairs bedroom so was able to fully enjoy the surroundings. The food was incredible. I felt super safe. I didn’t want to leave. A must visit - and please do as the Sri Lankan people need visitors right now. "

"We stayed for 2 nights, and we both thought that the food and the public areas were amazing. We also booked the yoga classes which were great. The bungalows are very cool, they are open, so you get a pretty unique experience. The beds are a bit on the hard side, this should be improved."

"We spent 4 nights at a Cabana near the beach. Had some bad luck with weather as it rained 2 days and the ocean was stormy. Nice secluded beaches near the cabana and friendly people. "

"The Cabanas was very spacious and nice. There is NO hot water for a shower which is not mentioned in the posting. There is not a separate "sitting area." The cabana is in a beautiful setting but you have to take a Tuk Tuk to town. It is next door to a restaurant. The breakfast is the traditional Sri Lankan Breakfast. Please note that they do not accept credit cards (which is poor) so you have to pay in local currency."

"Schöne, kleine Unterkunft an einem einsam gelegenen Strand. Ich hatte mir ein bisschen mehr erhofft in punkto Luxus, weil es als Ressort ausgewiesen war. Es ist aber eher ein Guesthouse. Große Baustelle nebenan, die Lärm macht."

From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality stood out — and to our surprise, we were upgraded to a stunning luxury villa room with the breathtaking beach view & pool. 🌊🌴 Every detail felt thoughtful — from the anniversary cake to the little celebratory touches that made us feel truly special. The staff made us feel less like guests and more like part of their story. It’s rare to find a place that balances luxury with genuine care. This one does it beautifully. "Hotel: Levels Unawatuna Room no: Superior Double Staff: 10/10 Location: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Soundproofing: 2/10 (music from pool area) Blockout curtains: Yes, but light from the hallway shines through the sides of the blinds. Comments: Spectacular view. Electronic dance music/subwoofer from pool area is loud and can be heard in the room, even though there was no people at the pool. Made it feel like more of a nightclub vibe than a hotel. The music didn’t stop until 9.15pm when I called reception to ask what time the music stops. It commenced again the following morning at 8.20am. The water pressure in the shower is poor. Very hard to wash the shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. Breakfast is included. If you’re vegan or have coeliac disease you can only eat the fruit. If you’re vegetarian you can only eat the fruit and eggs. If we had booked more than one night I would have been incredibly disappointed. The dinner menu is alright though."
