Our toilet clogged within an hour of checking in on Friday afternoon. I called the front desk and was told maintenance would come, so we left for the evening. When we returned around 8pm, no one had come to fix it. The receptionist then offered another room or maintenance the next day so instead of packing our bags we chose to wait for the following morning. By the next morning, the issue still had not been addressed. After running errands, I had to go to the front desk in person to explain that it had been nearly 24 hours without a working toilet and that we had been using the lobby restroom.
At that point, I was told the toilet clogged because toilet paper should not be flushed, something we were never informed of at check-in. The receptionist mentioned some staff were new and may have forgotten to explain this, and also shared that she herself had been unclogging guest toilets due to short staffing. While she was polite, this situation was extremely inconvenient and could have been avoided with proper communication and faster response.
