This is a wonderful campground located on the ‘wrong side of the levee’ along the banks of the Mississippi River - it does close occasionally due to flooding. It’s a wonderful place to sit and watch the traffic go by. This one is six barges long by three wide making his way upriver, empty. ( the average barge is 200 feet long by 35 wide making this one 1200 feet long by 105 feet wide, minus the ‘pusher boat’. Which makes it bigger then the ore ships we saw earlier this year on the Great Lakes ) Capacity when full is 1,530 tons, each! Roughly half the cargo carried by these barges is grain coming from ‘up north’ to the port in southern Louisiana!

Loved our stay. Everything was as listed. Room was clean and the location felt safe. As other have stated, the parking is a little tricky, but manageable. I would stay here again.
