The room was very dark even with shades open on a sunny day. The mattress was really bad as well. But the property was beautiful and beautifully maintained and the views were excellent.

Such a beautiful spot and a top not resort!!! I traveled with my family, including my 5 children and we all loved staying here. Our room was a beautiful Villa that was spacious and just perfect for us. The view was outstanding and the room was perfection!

This is a beautiful resort with very well appointed rooms. The suite we had was gorgeous and the complimentary bottle of Rose chilling in the fridge along with a delicious cheese and other snacks was a lovely touch. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Our tasting menu dinner in the restaurant was delightful and room service meals hot and delicious.

Always a treat

Staying at Bernardus is a special place. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The grounds are well taken care of and absolutely beautiful. The children’s garden is our favorite and our kids love planting seeds and seeing of the flowers come through at a later time. We stay here every year and plan on always coming back.

Worth Every Penny!

The Bernardus had been recommended to us by a few friends and I had seen it mentioned in travel magazines. It certainly lived up to its billing. The room was spacious and lovely with a huge bathroom, a fireplace and large patio. The parking was valet, but you could go in and out as often as you wished at no charge. The restaurant, Lucia's, could not be better, both for dinner and breakfast. I should also mention that everyone who worked there was genuinely a pleasure to talk to.

Property is beautiful. My partner and I stayed in the luxury spa room, which is exactly as it is portrayed. Only feedback i would share is, resort knew we were only staying 1 night, and on 2 seperate occassions asked us what are our plans for the day of arrival - which we responded with heading to the Bernardus Winery. Only to arrive at the winery and it was closed. Rather disappointing consider we drove down from the north bay and only had a short stay. Would of appreciated a heads up so we could of made alternate plans.

Christmas in November!

Heads up: If you want to hear nonstop Christmas music in late November, then this is a good place to stay and dine! But if like us you need a spa experience with quiet relaxation, then try someplace else! Christmas music was playing endlessly in common areas including the restaurant, and since there were few other patrons, we asked if they could change the music during our meal - but the staff replied they can't because it's the hotel policy to start the canned music right after Thanksgiving. We regretfully cancelled our dinner reservation, and unexpectedly had the hassle to drive to other restaurants for all our meals. That said, the room and spa were nice - except for hearing the Christmas music piped outdoors while walking to and from the spa.

Beautiful and tranquil get away nestled in the Carmel Valley. Delicious restaurant on property (Lucia) and wonderful homegrown wine (Bernardus label - the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are delicious). Close to Carmel-by-the-Sea and everything good!
