I killed 3 bugs in my room The lobby staff was unfriendly. I went 3 times as I couldn’t find breakfast. She was rude and unhelpful. The map they provided was extremely small and blurry. Breakfast was cold. We got there about 7:20 and everything was cold. You were able to see light from outside around the entire door to the room . I would not recommend this place

My wife and I had a wonderful 5-night stay there. Our suite was comfortable and quiet, with a pleasant balcony where we enjoyed to sit. The staff is excellent across the board-- front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance. The breakfast was good. The central location is very convenient. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Monterey.

the room was okay. outdated. each time we returned fr an outing, it had a sewage smell in the room that we had to leave the backdoor open to air it out. staff showed minimal customer service. nothing special but the price was good for the nights there, location was the best thing bout the place. breakfast was okay. they never had fresh coffee in the lobby and always ran out before noon. we wouldn't stay here nor recommend it, unless you're looking for a good deal in regards to location. also, it was very noisy, even in the middle of the night like there was construction or moving happening. not sure what that was about, but it wasn't what we expected in the late hrs.

I had a very disappointing stay and would not recommend this property. The room had multiple cleanliness and maintenance issues that made it uncomfortable and concerning. There was visible mold in the room, including on fixtures, and the hair dryer was filled with dust. Dust buildup was noticeable throughout the space. The room also had a strong odor that smelled like a mix of mildew and bleach, which made it unpleasant to stay in. The headboard had what appeared to be a handprint on it, which raised serious concerns about cleanliness. The toilet seat was peeling and clearly in need of replacement. Additionally, the listing mentioned a fan, but there was no fan in the room at all. To make matters worse, there was loud construction happening in the lobby during my stay, which was disruptive. I attempted to contact staff both via email and through Expedia chat multiple times over my 3-night stay and never received a response. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, missing amenities, and complete lack of communication from staff made this a frustrating experience. I would strongly suggest improvements before others consider booking.

I would recommend the maintenance workers to do not make noise late at night and mainly early in the morning. I would never book a room next to maintenance room for next time.

The breakfast was nothing special but still nice it was offered, everything seemed fresh. The staff were decent. The building though seems to be in need of some serious repairs, rotting steps, sunken floors (which filled with water due to it raining during our visit) the grout in the tiles, bathroom/shower/tub were all chipping or had mold present. The plumbing leaks in the under ground parking. The elevators either didn’t work or were very obviously never cleaned. Our comforter also had blood stains on them so doubt that has been washed in awhile…

The room and location of the hotel was perfect, no need to drive around and look for parking spots as we were able to walk everywhere. The room was so nice and bathroom was very spacious

Staff / manager tried her best to address issues and was very kind… keep in mind this street has may historical older Spanish style buildings, that’s the charm of this street… and this hotel is not the exception. So with older buildings, there will be water temperature issues, insulation is not as up to date , nor door seals - so you will hear outside noise. Inside decor of our suite was very cute & cozy. Part of the Spanish charm of the building is the Spanish outside clay tiles ( probably original) but when employees roll their carts over them they are very loud especially when rolling close to your unit. Breakfast - was an issue for me, I was not to happy… but the manager addressed it and said she’s speak to the breakfast team… as all food should be continued to be made available up until 10am. (If you need a filling breakfast w protein- it’s probably best to go out instead).

Breakfast every morning was really tasty! Breakfast staff was very accommodating also. Only true complaint that I have is that the cleaning crew never appeared and had to request toilet paper and towels a few times. Room and atmosphere was great! Beautiful and I would definitely stay again!

The location and value you get relative to other hotels in immediate area you can't beat. The staff are friendly and helpful but limited. I'll elaborate soon. The property is older but really blends well with the old style architecture of the area. I was on the third floor and the elevator was out of service. The grounds looked well manicured but brickwork and wooden walkways could use power washing. Very dingy looking in contrast to the manicured landscape and white adobe looking walls. The room I had was a junior suite with a sofabed. The room appears to have been renovated. My biggest gripe is the toilet seat was either reused or abused by previous guests. Housekeeping in room was acceptable except for toilet again. Gray hard water stains were very visible below the water line. I lied about the biggest gripe. The biggest gripe was i had barely to no hot water for my overnight stay. I was told maintenance could not access the room to correct it until tomorrow as it was after hours. Fast foward to morning and still no hot water. Cold showers for all. Here is the limited part that i mentioned about the staff. When I notified the front desk about the water issue I was instructed to try leaving water on for 5 minutes and if not working she would have us moved to another room. I did 10 with very little heat. Staff apologized and informed me that her manager said they sold the last room. I checked and it was still available so you all could come to your own conclusions. Limit!
