What a great place to spend five days in Monteverde. The vibe at Cabanas La Pradera was wonderful. As other posters have stated, the family that operate this place are a big reason for this. The property is good for walking and birding, the cabins are comfortable and secluded, the pool area is a good place to hang out, and the coffee is REALLY good at the breakfast room. We recommend Cabanas La Pradera strongly.

Cabanas la Pradera was a wonderful experience. The cabins are set out over 14 acres I believe. Within the property there are easy walking trails. The birding within the property is excellent but the cabanas are close to Curri Cancha, Monteverde and so many other locations good for birding, butterflies and restaurants! The cabins themselves are basic but very comfortable. Melissa and her family make you feel very welcome and are so helpful. I would love to go back.

Private cottage with bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. Great porch with jungle view. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds with walking trails, lots of birds and wildlife. Large fridge, microwave, induction cooktop, coffee maker(no coffee)/kettle and all the cookware/dishes needed to eat in. Paper towel, dish soap and sponge/cloths provided. Locked gated entrance with access code at night. Quick drive to town and attractions. Great spot for a couple of nights or an extended stay.

10/10. The property is beautiful, worth every penny. We felt like home. Staff welcomed us and lots of great advice for things to do! We truly enjoyed our time here. There are lots of wild animals on the property so highly recommend you walk around.

Cabin was smaller than expected and bed was very uncomfortable. Kitchen was minimalistic but adequate. Two of the four rotating front desk staff spoke fluent English but the other two spoke almost no English (and I speak very little Spanish). The grounds are quite hilly but fairly small so that was not an issue. The grounds are also quite beautiful with a wide variety of plants and the gorgeous bougainvillea I have ever seen shaped into a 10-ft tall tree. Breakfast is available for charge but must be reserved in advance. The food was quite good.

We had a nice stay in this property. Nice cozy bed, smart TV, kitchen (microwave, 2 ring stove, fridge, sink, pots, pans, cutlery, cutting board, and such), bathroom, and sitting area both inside and outside. What makes this accommodation special is the family thatt run it. Melissa is at the front desk 12 hours a day, and she speaks fluent English and is extremely helpful. I asked her lots of questions about the different things to do in the area and she was happy to answer them, even though she was not getting any extra fees. The best information she gave to me was that you can take the public bus from town to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve (800 colones or $2.30 CDN each way which was much much cheaper than a taxi estimated to cost $29 CDN each way). Other family members were also helpful. We had trouble turning on the stove and her brother Tony helped out and her husband installed a new one. It was all done quickly and with care. A small disappointment was that there was no shampoo in the bathroom. Please note that this property is not right in Santa Elena. It requires a 20-minute walk into town, much of it uphill. There is a small grocery store right across the street from the property, but the larger stores are definitely a walk away.

Great “little house” and super staff. Bad wifi

Lovely and large cabana with kitchen, table, etc. the staff was impeccable in taking care. Unfortunately the wifi is yo-yo like and we had no hot water due to a malfunction. It took a few days to rectify and then we got warm water.

Get away in nature in your own space

Our stay at this cottage in Monteverde was incredibly relaxing. It had everything we needed, including a nice kitchen, and offered a quiet, comfortable retreat. We especially loved the natural surroundings, with a beautiful 2km network of nature paths right on the property—perfect for peaceful walks. The owner/manager was friendly and very helpful, adding to the overall wonderful experience. The only downside was that the Wi-Fi wasn’t very reliable, but everything else more than made up for it. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in nature!

The property was very well maintained. We saw dozens of different birds from our cabin. The nature trail was exceptional. All of the staff from reception to hospitality were warm and sincere in their desire to help us enjoy the stay.

Bon emplacement tranquille pour visiter la région de Monteverde. De bons conseils de la propriétaire. Très beau jardin, arbres fruitiers et plantations, de magnifiques oiseaux à observer. Sentier sur place. Logement biens correct avec cuisine et terrasse couverte. Café de la plantation disponible. Une bonne adresse.

The staff is amazing and extremely helpful. Our cabin overlooked the trees with birds galore. Plenty of trails around the property with a fish hatchery, flowers, fruit, etc. we opted for breakfast the first day but didn’t realize we were to tell them on the next day. Not sure what happened. Defiant would stay again. Pool was freezing so we couldn’t enjoy it very much when we were there.
