"It is value for money definitely. On the outside (and inside) it is a very old property. Like if not decades, but many many years and it shows. But you get what you pay for. Few things I did like about the property is that the rooms are really large. I was on the ground floor and had an outer sitting balcony , then a small working area room (with coffee machine), then the bedroom, and then between the bedroom and the bathroom a closet space. Things are not spick and span though, line you sit on the pot and there’s a sink in the ground right in front with some old looking stuff, but the cleaners do their job. They also provide you two bottles of water on check in free, free transport to airport back and fro and decent breakfast with hot and cold dishes. The restaurant area Actualy looks like some resort from Thailand. Also if you’re looking for a tour , the resort is included as pickup point on most tours. People at front desk seem genuinely over worked though.
If I visit San Jose again on a short (2-3 days) trip, I would stay here again. I paid less than 80 usd a room and hence its value for money including the fact I didn’t have to take an Ubers (which are illegal in Costa Rica) to and from the airport !"
