A fascinating opportunity to stay in a chateau that has been in the same family for over 400 years, and to meet and share in their lives and history.
Magnificent accommodation and spacious grounds.
A beautiful family run small château set in park like gardens. We had a large bedroom overlooking the gardens. Throughout the château was beautifully furnished and the service was attentive and friendly. Close to Rennes and also an ideal location for day excursions to Le Mont Saint Michel or Angers and many other noteworthy places.
This was our first stay at a ‘chateau’ and it was amazing. The historical mansion filled with antiques was magnificent. The grounds were expansive and were well kept. Hospitality by the family was heartwarming. The rooms were well appointed , spacious and very comfortable.
Please know, to get around, one does need a car.
Our feeling is that we will be visiting more chateaus in the future.

I Feel Like French Royalty
Staying here is both unique and beautiful. I don’t feel as though I’m in a hotel. I feel like a welcomed guest on the estate of French royalty. The very large bedrooms are lovely. If you are traveling in the area, treat yourself to stay here. You will feel as though you’ve stepped back in time to another era. An era designed for a Hollywood movie.
Lovely anniversary stay with family (5 and 3 year olds, 11 month old) run by the owners of the chateau. Unique experience, wonderful service and beautiful room, breakfast and grounds. Great for families or couples.
I’ve been traveling the French countryside for a few years and very rarely have I stayed in such a special place. Everything was perfect. Could not recommend this place highly enough
This place is a must stay for anyone. Don't be like me and only book one night. You'll regret not staying there for two nights. It is gorgeous and so clean. The host was very welcoming and kind. The history of the home is very interesting. The rooms are very large and comfortable. You have access to sitting rooms and a bar where you can enjoy a glass a wine or two in the evening. The property around the home is gorgeous and very walkable. I loved everything about this place and would reccommend it to anyone.
We adored our stay at the amazing Chateau de la Villedubois.
We had the incredible room called La Gouvernante, with a king bed. It is even better than the photos, as they have added cozy floor rugs and more furniture. The bathtub has been replaced with a fabulous walk-in shower with rainfall head. The tile work is a gorgeous green, matching the floors and the carpet in the room. The room has sunny French provincial wallpaper in yellow and it is happy, not overpowering, very classic in feel. The comfortable bed was made with excellent linens and individual duvets. Open those large windows and you get a fresh breeze and lovely views over the grounds, park and lake.
The rest of the property is equally stunning, and very well cared for.
The wonderful family that lives here was very warm and welcoming. I love how they keep this chateau vibrant and alive with their presence. Amelie and Al were gracious hosts and gave us a lovely orientation as well as very good information about the surrounding areas to visit. The Countess was also present and gave us great advice about visiting St Malo and Dinan, which were an easy day drive away.
Breakfast was wonderful! It was shared with the other guests at a large table set with French porcelain in red toile designs.Amelie has sourced the best croissants in all of France - so fresh and buttery! Her flan was delicious and the melon was ripe and sweet. We lingered long at the table, enjoying the repast and the company.
Such wonderfulness!
A true chateau recently opened as a B&B by the daughter of count and countess, who are still in residence. The entire setting could not be more lovely. Elegant large bedrooms and breakfasts fit for nobility, all at a very reasonable price. Could not recommend it more highly!
This is the second time that we came back to Villedubois, after being extremely impressed by the quality of our first stay in 2020. This time was no different. The beauty of the property, the warmth of the hosts and the excellent breakfast service (literally, fit for a king!) remain unchanged. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet retreat in Brittany. The chateau is also within 15 minutes if three golf courses and less than 20 minutes away from the heart of Rennes, with its many wonderful restaurants.
Einzigartiger Wohlfühlaufenthalt im wunderschönen Schloss
Das Château:
Welch wundervolle Anlage!

We absolutely loved staying at this fabulous accommodation with its excellent hospitality and great location. The room was spacious and immaculately clean with a splendid view. Breakfast was gorgeous.
